Vasari openings
Recently I’ve been attempting to stop playing only as the TEC and learn to play as the other factions as well. Currently I’m attempting to play as the Vasari and while things are generally going well I’m having a bit of difficulty with deciding how to play as them in the early game due to lack of knowledge about the faction. The opening I used most of the time as the TEC (Colony capitalship + colony frigate + LFs into LRM spam with flak if the enemy goes for corvettes) probably isn't applicable anymore due to the Vasari having different strengths. Therefore, I have several questions regarding the Vasari in the early game.
What should a typical opening be? Are the Vasari good at economic openings like the TEC or is it better to go for more aggressive openings? What are good starting capital ships?
In general, what research is it most important to acquire early on? On the basis of this, what combination of research labs should I get early on (2 Military, 2 Civilian, 1 of each etc.)?
I’ve heard a lot about Vasari starbases being vital to their strategy, how soon should I attempt to get these? Should I use them defensively to block chokepoints to free up my fleet to attack or should I use them aggressively within enemy gravity wells?
Finally, are there significant differences in the playstyle of the two Vasari subfactions? I know that the loyalists can destroy planets and become nomadic and the rebels can give allies buffs but neither of these advantages seem like they would come into play much in the average game.
Sorry about the volume of questions and thank you to anyone who attempts to answer them.
