Names of the produced ships

I think the name generator for produced ships if playing multiplayer is inappropriate. So if I see a enemy ship nemed "Defender M0 - 45" I just know the enemy has 45 ships of this model. So to give the enemy no information you are forced to change the name of each produced ship manually. The name generator shut make more neutral names

You do know that if you can see another ship, you can just click on it to see its exact specs right? Compared to that, the fact that you have a Defender M10, when your opponent doesn't know in what order you researched tech, gives literally no additional information.

You missed my point. If I see for example an enemy ship named "Defender M0 - 45" the number "45" gives me the information that he has build over 45 ships of this ship type. And because I dont want to show the enemys my approximate fleet size I'm forced to rename my ships. Therfore the DEV team should change the name label mechanics so that I dont need to change the name of EVERY ship I produced. I hope I made the issue now clear.

USS Enterprise CVN 65
USS Sea Wolf SSN 21
USS Los Angeles SSN 688

The ship number needs to be there so that ships can be found, upgraded, traded etc.        In my examples the Enterprise was not the 65th Nuclear Carrier built.. it was the first...  but it was the 65th aircraft carrier built.

The LA came before the more modern SeaWolf...   but the Sea Wolf is actually the 3rd or 4th sub to have that name.  They went back in naming convention (back to fish)  and back to earlier numbering for that class...   The replacement Virginia are back in numerical sequence with the LA class....

Rather than the number of ships in an exact design model the number should be based on type.

Constructors and Colony ships are both support ships.    Colony ship 4 would precede Constructor 5 and then FastColony6 etc etc

Tiny attack ship 23 would precede HUGE attack ship 45 which came before Small attack ship 50...

This would then not give away that there are X number of ships in a class... but or even a fleet.. but rather that the player has built x many ships  of Z type in the game.

another problem here is i can open up diplomacy and see exactly how many ships of each name you have even if you eliminated the -45 in order for a renaming system to be effective you need to be able to hide ships from diplomacy which is a whole other can of trouble

Very good point. Players should decide what the other can see

Taken to an extreme though, that renders the diplomacy trading screen nigh useless.  Why should I let someone else know what techs I've researched?  Or how many planets I've colonized?  Or, indeed, how much money I have.  All of that information could be used against me in war (or other) planning.

Sometimes you're just gonna have to bite the bullet and accept that other factions will know basic things about your empire.  But, then again, so to will you for them. ;)

EDIT::: And, of course, if one wants to follow the example of the Hermit Kingdom, one can always refuse to engage in diplomatic trading.  That way, no one could see what you have when they open the trading screen.  Of course, that also means you can't get stuff from other factions.  But that's why you rip it from their cold, dead, hands.  }:)

Yeah. I thing the best way would be you can only see objects and archivments of your enemys which you have seen so far.

DEV Team: Work on it :inlove:
