Rotating ships in ship designer

So I'm having a bit of an issue. At first I couldn't rotate ships in ship designer, so I looked around a bit and found it could be done with mouse 3. My mouse has no mouse 3. I checked for a way to remap that, but there appears to be no option for that. Can we get an option for that for those of us without 3 button mice?

Also trying to handle the game completely freezing every few turns. Just lowered all settings to lowest, and I'll see how that goes.

Thanks!

Not to disagree with your request, but to see if you can get it going soon, what kind of mouse do you have?  Some of them will do a MB3 if you press down on the scroll wheel.

I have a Microsoft wireless mouse. It has a scroll wheel, however after experimenting with it today, clicking the scroll wheel does not get interpreted as Mouse-3.

Also running the game on low, does alleviate the freeze screens somewhat. I was able to play smoothly for 2 hours last night before it froze. I got about 30 minutes today before it happened again.

Thanks for replying.

Edit: I have updated my graphics driver to the latest drivers to see if it's had an effect. I'm still having frequent screen freezing. Is this normal in longer games? I'm past 400 turns and after playing for a few minutes the screen freezes. I have to kill through task manager and then relaunch. I'll be ok for a few minutes and then it'll freeze again. The game seems to be moving, it's just that the screen is not being rendered.

A number of other people have reported freezes, and the developers have requested that you open a ticket with support if you do.  This post explains how to open a ticket.

Thanks for replying to me. I'll make a new game with the universe settings the way they recommend, and I'll see if that helps any before submitting a ticket.

Any other word on the possibility of getting a rotate button? Or possibly a symmetry button? It's the worst when trying to place peices of the ship, and being unable to make them symmetrical because I can't reach the mount point on the other side.

Thanks for your assistance thus far!

I haven't played around much with the ship designer, so I'm afraid I can't be of much further help to you.  One thing I can suggest is that the developers seem more likely to respond to posts in the Support forum.  You can move this to that forum by editing the original post, selecting Categories in the header, and the selecting Support from the drop down list.

Thank you for the feedback. I hope the Beta 5 Low Graphics setting has helped with some of your performance issues. I will add your mouse issue to the list.

Try clicking both mouse buttons at once, its the laptop fix for no middle mouse button.  Not sure if its implemented broadly though.

Thanks for replies.

I have tried on low, I'm still having game freezes around the 10 minute mark or so.

Tried clicking both mouse buttons, unfortunately does not count as a mouse 3 click, so I still can't rotate ships. :(

I was really looking forward to messing with the new features. Oh well...

The game freeze is cause by using a mouse with no mouse 3.

Just kidding, a day late for April Fool but I couldn't resist :)

Sorry about your mouse. I was going nuts trying to figure out how to rotate. I had programmed my m3 to refresh and I could not get it back to default. Luckily I have a bunch of mice laying around.

This is why I don't like the mb3 button, or click scroll wheel.

I have a two button gaming trackball that responds better than my mouse, but can't use it it a lot of games due to that mb3 problem and not being able to remap it.

I have a microsoft mouse and I couldn't get the scroll wheel press to work until I reconfigured the mouse.   You might try playing around with that if you haven't already.   Even when it did start working it wasn't particularly easy to use, though.   Had to press repeatedly and do it just right they try to hold it while turning the ship.

I mean control panel -> mouse -> mouse properties -> mouse and keyboard center tab -> click on highlighted text to get the config.    I think my scroll wheel was set to "flip" as default  and I had to click wheel button and change it  to "middle-click".

Maybe that helps.
