The text is missing in UI buttons

So I just bought GC3 on steam today, installed, and quickly realized a major issue. I can't see the text in the buttons on the UI! Text everywhere else seems fine. Makes i very hard to play.

Updated my video card driver that was only a few months old to the latest from NVIDA. Reverified in steam. Uninstalled, rebooted, then reinstalled to a different drive (First and SSD, then an HDD). Looked on the forums and found the text installer in the GC3 directory, ran that, no help. Tried power saving mode on my GPU, no luck.

In a recent post, someone had this issue, and they opted in to the next beta update, but I don't have that option in steam...? Game is currently .72

Here's what I'm running:

Desktop Computer

Asus motherboard, AMD870 Chipset

AMD Phenom ii X6

12GB RAM

Nvidia GTX770

Windows 7 64-bit SP1

I will likely sumbmit a ticket as well.

Here's something from a support email:

If you're missing fonts or not seeing them show properly, please try the following instructions below after exiting GalCiv3.

-Navigate to this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Galactic Civilizations III\Fonts
-Run this EXE: gc3_font_setup.exe
-Start up GalCiv3 and see if the fonts show up properly.

If you are still not seeing the fonts, try deleting a few files listed below in this directory: C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Galactic Civilizations III

K2FontData_Small.fontdata
K2FontTexture_Small.dds

Afterwards try verifying the game's cache files. Open up Steam and right click on the game and select properties, then choose the option 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache' like so: http://screencast.com/t/QwZ9xVyT

After the game files are read/repaired attempt to run the game again in Steam and see if that fixes the issue.

If this did not work for you, please try downloading and installing the font at this website:

Thanks so much!

The running of the font setup file and verification I had tried and didn't fix it.

However, deleting the K2 files you mentioned I hadn't tried. Deleting those, then running the game forced it to recreate them, and they work!

Now to try the rest of the game!

I had exact same issue described above. Have screen shot if it helps.

The fix laid out by Rhonin worked for me as well (the deleting the two files).

This occurred on a fresh install as I just purchased the game this weekend on Steam. Tried same steps as Carskick before coming here, didnt resolve. Tried Rhonins deleting of those 2 files, and it fixed it like a champ.

Thank You!

Here is something for desperate fellas like me :D

I did everything suggested by others here. Nothing worked. Then I searched the word "font" in the game folder. I found "fontdefs.xml". I found the line with "Consola.tff" and corrected it as "consolas.tff".

Guess what?! IT WORKED!

If u already did everything else, try this please.

Doktor_oni, what version of windows are you running? We have consola.ttf in all of our base windows installs. We are wondering why you don't have that font, and why you have consolas.ttf instead.
