Permanent vs 'this round only' buffs

I heard on Soren's video that getting engineers in auctions etc then remain for the remainder of your campaign.  However things like patents only seem to last the current round.  An indicator during the auction of which is which would be handy.

yeah, I agree with that, I first thought that none of the auction stuff carries over, cos otherwise they would be so worth ridiculous amounts of money. I mean if you can get 2 of them from a map, it is already half as good as winning the map.

In my view the campaign snowballs out of all control very quickly and takes almost all of the mystery out of who is likely to win.  The good player will naturally find themselves near the top of the table through good play; they don't need to be further advantaged by rapidly accumulating buffs.  (If anything I would argue that a good contest should seek to reduce the gap between 'best' and 'worst', not widen it as this campaign currently does.)  Rollover buffs, IMO, are the primary cause of the snowballing and should be revisited.  Perhaps only allow each HQ to pick two of their currently accumulated buffs and take those into the next match rather than rolling on in with them all.

I had a bit of a moan about this in my first campaign recording (@ 0:29:00 and 1:15:30): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yjq0BnP4w4A

I think the mechanic will work particularly with real players not AI- the tension of spending a lot on a permanent buff but reducing your chances of success in that map. Agree though that a really strong player will end up with lots of buffs.

The he idea of gaining those perks for good is appealing though, mit adds continuity.

yeah, in my campaign playthrough there was a situation where I might have lost cos I outbid on Pleasure dome and lost a map which reward was teleportation. Though I'm not 100 % sure if that would have saved me if I had let him have it.

Edit: also the bid was around 24-28k
