Turn off Production when Power price is high?

i just found out that the AI, is always turning off some production facilities when the power price is high, to gain alot of money, are you guys doing that aswell and does it work/ make sense? maybe thats the reason why the AI is reasonable strong in this game

Seems natural that the AI would be good at this.  This game is one part strategy, one part situational awareness, and one part mass number crunching.  Well, I can tell you what part the AI would naturally be better at than I am.  I remember watching Soren Johnson playing before early access released.  He shutdown facilities and wiped out more than 60K in debt and made quite a bit of money before the market finally came into line.

I wonder if it would be cheating for the Interface to highlight things being produced that could be purchased more cheaply.  I realize you can't take it too far, because you could just get to a point where the AI is running your game, but I really think something to help with calculating the costs of production vs. purchase could help people out a lot.

I'm always turning buildings on or off. If you aren't you are wasting money that could be spent elsewhere.

I'd view any overlay not included in the game as cheating. There's not really that much difference in being told to do something and doing it and having it automatically done (botting) since the skill is in determining the course of action.

I was not implying a 3rd party overlay.  I guess I shouldn't have said cheating.  I was suggesting some kind of built in prompting as to whether it was good to have production active for an industry.

Not sure I like that either. I tend to be against the game holding a players hand. As players get better they will need more to do.

Perhaps they could add it to the tutorials, however, since that would at least guide the player that its something to be aware of, which would be a better solution to the problem of not knowing than the game just flashing lights saying "click here."

If you're spending power producing materials without value or have a vast stockpile, by all means disable if the power is too costly. You can now just shift click buildings to toggle power on/off.

I thnk most buildings use 0.1 power though right ? so you'd probably need to have power at 200 or so before it be worth stopping producing tier 2 items.

Mines may be worth it though

I've done that. It is kinda micro, that's where the RT comes in.
