All hail the Frogs

One of the things we were excited to add to GalCiv III was more detailed race customization.  This time around, we’ve made it a lot easier for people to create their own truly unique civilizations.

You can set your leader to be different from your species

image

Right now, you’re doing the eating but later, they’ll be eating you.

Of course, when making a GalCiv race you get to play AS that race and then later play against it if you so choose. So when designing them, you also can set up their AI personality.  It is in this way that players can

potentially have games with hundreds of players.

Why can’t they just be happy for me?

Unleashed into an unsuspecting galaxy

With your custom races, they can look at good or hideous as you’d like.  I suspect there will be a nice cottage industry of modders making cool looking races.

Not sure if the public beta has this yet but the AI is starting to interact more with the player.

More to come!

Will the dogs and the frogs be allies or enemies? ;)

Hmmm, I suspect that a Torian and Froggler Souffle is just what the Drengin ordered! Tasty Deep Fried Torians alongside some Froggler Grilled Legs. I am hungry already!

I like the idea of an interactive leader based game. Will we be able to upload, and download our leaders,  and races. I would also like to be able to change mechanics,  and how they research for different ai's. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to pick initial research paths for custom ai opponent's.

Cry Havoc! And release the Frogs of War!

You get much prettier after a victory! Maybe because you get to set the new standard. Buy hey-ho! Just drop the mirrors!

that last but at the end with the Ai offering the trade is the coolest part& would go a long way towards making the Ai feel less -a- more -i- :D. Playing as the yor, I iften have a -wildly- different tech tree path than everyone else (strong tourism>imdustry/research>ffricken tiny yet fast engines & just buy warships often enough to avoid being attacked (sometimes keeping others in the blue in the process). Meanwhile the Ai is doing weapons/hillsiize/defense & such

hopefully the Ai can pls ahead a bit too in the tech trade thing. For example trading/giving away   military tech with the intention of buying warships from a more industrial neighbor and has the ability to make clear thats a path it would be interested in.

eing able to buy/sell control of a shipyard for a number of turns/ships (?) would greatly enhance thus as well

Very cool, how many professional (i.e. star dock developed) generic leader heads/races will we have to chose from?

As a longstanding member of FROG I loved that you guys used frogs as example race, though most likely not modeled after us still we are honored.

Can't wait for this!

I was a huge gal civ 2 fan, I'll still spend hours and weeks playing it. Absolutely love that game and never get tired of it. The day I heard galciv3 was finally getting made I just about wet myself.

The customization though, reading this made me buy the game early, favorite part of the game is stuff like this. Keep up the good work Star Dock

Don't forget Steam workshop to distribute those new modded civs. ^^

I have (for the most part, moments of GC3 weakness) avoided playing the beta until my favorite parts of the game - custom races - are released. Am I to understand that this time of tribulation will soon be over? In other words, is this the next beta update?
