Music and Sound

Music and Sound not fitting the game

Hi guys,

the game is awesome and fun already. It's probably not the most important thing in beta, but sound and music are so important.

The music is so depressive and melancholic - The game is fun, action, money, expansion, exiting. Please make the athmosphere more turbulent with some more cheerful, upraising music.

The sound is boring. Banging metal on construction. Bring in some rand() sounds for construction and all the buildings when zoomed in. A lot missing with the whole athmosphere.

Great game! Keep up the good work.

Placeholders.  I kinda like them though, gives the game a quirky sort of character.

There's probably a lot left to go in, aestheticly speaking.  As yet there are no effects for the random events.  I hope to eventually see the colour palette saturate during Solar Flares, a gentle waft of dust during dust storms, etc...

The screen (or at least the planet view) shaking violently during a Marsquake...

I completely agree. I do most of the audio work with the game so I'm trying to improve the experience of the game in that area.

Noted. That's temp music and will be replaced. (No idea when.)

Since most of the game involves factories and mines, it's hard to make noises that are different from those. I completely agree that we need a more diverse soundscape and we're working toward that.

I kinda like the intro music! Very panic-inducing (which fits this game in some ways lol)

I also like the music and actually find it pretty fitting. But I only hear it in the menu and when the game is loading or just starting. It can feel "empty" with so little sound.

Anyone know if a composer and/or sound designer was hired for this game?  I don't really know DeftMunky's background.

Ok, by "audio work" I mean programming. I'm not the game's musician or sound effects artist.

We have an audio designer that we've worked with before and we're looking for a musician. I want Thom Yorke but Dorian says he's out of our price range. :(
