Some UI questions/requests

Hello, i don't know if this came up already but i have a few questions.

Is there any plans to introduce zoom feature to tech tree?

Is there any plans to make it so the first thing you see when clicking on technology button is tech tree?

If not could you possibly optimize the location of the tech tree button? Because atm its takes way to long time to look at technology tree. If i click on idle tech in lower right corner i have to drag the cursor ALL the way to the left, and if i click up top i have to drag all the way down.

The other complaint i have is the way movement trails work. When i saw one of the first screenshots i was like yay that looks nice, because i thought the way they would work is when ship starts moving the end destination would stay still. But for some unimaginable reason the movement trail destination keeps jumping forward to the next hex. Its like having a fuel gauge in your car which only tells you how much gas there is in a full tank but it never tells you how much gas there is currently, you know what i mean.

OMG please tell me that you can switch how movement trails work because i just cannot stand the current way they work it drives me insane. Every time i sit down to play the game its like somebody put the toilet paper roll the wrong way and i cannot switch it over.

Sorry for the lengthy and b@tchy post.

Yes I'm pretty sure the devs said they would be adding a tech tree zoom, and an option to go straight to tech tree instead of that first screen (that I never even look at).  I don't know about the movement trails; it isn't something that really concerns me so I never bothered to listen or look for anything about them.

The movement trails are telling you how long until the ship reaches that part in it's path, so i.e. the ship will cover the green section in one turn, yellow on the 2nd turn, etc.  It's based on where your ship presently is, with the path calculated on where it's going.  It may make more sense to consider looking at it from the destination's perspective - you'll see the line count down from 6, 5, 4, 3, yellow, green, ship has arrived.

the problem here is that it is implied that the green section is how long i can move this turn if my ship has 10/10 move that trail is 10 long if my ship has 1/10 move that trail should be 1 long but is still 10 long

I've noticed this.  Thanks for bringing it up.

The green "one turn of movement" segment moves as the ship moves.  So do all the others.  This is incorrect behavior.   The green segment should grow smaller as the ship moves until it has used up its movement points.   The other segments should stay as is.   At the end of movement, the line redraws with new turn counters and a fresh green segment to represent the next turn.  If you are really clever, the green segment is lighter or something to show it is not quite real until next turn.  As far as I can tell, this would help the movement trail be intuitively obvious.

OMG finally i know that its not me who is just crazy, that's exactly what i meant and its been driving me insane since first alpha build was out.

Now if they also could make it look like just a straight up thin, continuous line ala GC2 that would be awesome. The big, fat, blocky, multicolored segments look artistically out of style with the rest of the UI, but that might just be a matter of taste.

actually i think it should not redraw until start of next turn green is this turn yellow is next turn orange is 3rd etc the only time it should redraw otherwise is if i choose pass which uses up my movement points (it should just not flag the ship till next turn) at which point the green line would disappear and yellow would start right next to the ship until next turn

I can see that, sure.  Good point.

Ah, I follow you now.  Yes, that is annoying. :)
