Game gets stuck after tutorial 1 complete

Hey! 

 

So I've played the first tutorial twice now. But times, the second I click the upgrade button it bails to desktop. When I go back to the game I have the victory fireworks and stuff going off but nothing I click or hit on the keyboard advances it. I alt-f4 out and start again, but it doesn't acknowledge I completed the tutorial.

 

Ok, in further playing and testing, it also switches to desktop when starting a tutorial, and did the same at the end of Tutorial 2 when I bought out the opponent.

If this is on steam try verifing the files if this don't work try making sure you OS and video drivers are up to date

I verified files and updated my video drivers (windows is up to date). Same issue. I have an nVidia gtx 560.

Ok so I've been fiddling more. It seems a couple things may be happening. Stuff is failing to display, like the menu when I hit Esc. When I went to windowed 1600x900 instead of 1080 fullscreen it seems ok. But Scavenger tutorial wasn't working at all for me. I'd get stuck at a blank screen (presumably intended to be the screen describing the tutorial). I could hit esc, and start scanning but I had zero UI, and couldn't place a HQ or anything other than scan constantly. I am able to play now, just on windowed lower res.

To be clear: things weren't working at full screen, but then you went into windowed mode and the game worked?

A video would be excellent.

Sorry. I'll run down my experiences so far. 

 

Tutorials 1-3 all work. When beginning, the game suddenly goes to desktop, but I can alt-tab back. But as soon as victory happens, I can't control the game, sometimes it also goes to desktop and I alt-tab back. The only thing that works is hitting Esc or spacebar, which leaves the close up fireworks view and gives the normal camera view. But still, no inputs work. I alt-f4 out. It doesn't save the fact I've beat the tutorial.

Tutorial 4 wouldn't even start. It was a blank screen that I assume should be the brief tutorial message and OK button. I was able to solve this by going windowed, and tutorial 4 was playable. Although, it had the same problem at the end victory as the others.

EDIT: Small addition. I've now been playing tutorial 5. Similar issue as with 4. The first time, it started no issue (well, besides dropping to desktop). Second time it had the same issue as Tutorial 4. To fix I went back to windowed, it still didn't work. I adjusted from 1920x1080 to 1600x900 windowed and the opening message popped up fine. It doesn't drop to desktop when in windowed mode either. 

I'm going to submit this as a support ticket (I hadn't seen that option earlier) with a screenshot and log files.
