Should I install windows 8.1? If so, do I need to update my Fences which I got for windows 8?

I kept getting the message to upgrade to windows 8.1.  I like my Start8 workaround.

But I think they tricked me into upgrading to 8.1.  I haven't upgraded Fences.  Things are working okay,

except the Start button is no longer giving me my old menu.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.
