must STEAM be utilized GAl Civ III

If bought from Stardock must I still use STEAM. Will Galactic Civilizations III be free of DRM? Thanks in advance. It's looking great from what I have seen!

GC3 uses Steamworks and thus requires Steam regardless of where it is purchased.
