unsure of correct name, but need help with a dragged highlighted area

area inside selection borders

Hi, thanks for checking this out.... I'm not sure what the area inside the selection in windows is called.  to be sure I took some screenshots to show you what I'm talking about.  Mine seems to have corrupted somehow, the area is bleeding the desktop background though in windows  but on the desktop itself is no problem, just a dotted line.

I was trying to find it in SkinStudio, which I've used several times to mod my skins, but I can't seem to find the entry for this... this thing lol  if you know the proper name or what could be wrong I'd be very grateful :)

thanks again!

I would close WB and apply a factory skin. Then reopen WB and apply a skin. Hope you have luck.

I am not sure what the second image is, looks like either the selected image(if the brownish area is your dilema) or, if the focus is meant on the weird bleed through area, try explorer backgrounds, which can be applied just through wb also. Luck

yeah, I did try that... I've been fidling around with this for several days now.

the second image is my drawing a selection area in that window, it's bleeding through bits of the desktop wallpaper in that ugly yellowish tint.

Is it just one skin?

If exclusive, try changing the explorer background through sks?

If tried already. try using a Windows skin, but make sure you open the task manager and stop wb services. Then make sure also you have no saved themes through Windows, then apply a Windows skin, then restart WB.

If all your skins are doing it, I would reinstall WB.

Unless you altered the code editor and this would only affect one skin!

Just by some weird circumstance, I notice the left side of the second image is also yellowish, that area is the folders bar area, check that image for corruption, and, in folders bar area of wb, check under extra settings and switch the color to see if it makes a difference. If not, I would suggest something may be wrong with your pc, some setting or driver, or registry error, not sure. Good luck!

the second screenshot is a selected area with my left mouse button still in a clicked (down) state.

I can unload windowblinds and everything is fine.  although this does happen in every skin.  my first thought was to re-install windowblinds again, unfortunately my subscription just ran out and by the looks of the website they want me to renew my subscription just to download the old version I already paid for...  with all the many bugs and problems I've had with all of stardocks software I'm not sure I want to renew. I paid for two years and in that time NONE of the bugs have been fixed.... and they're off for christmas and the new years and won't be back in until the 5th.  so I'm stuck with that for now.

not sure what other info I can provide neone6.... if you have a question I'll be happy to answer tho!  I'm running win7 64bit.  no other peculiarities, system runs smooth, perfect and fast.  oh, this started happening when my subscription ran out a few days ago...  that has to be coincidence right?  I feel paranoid suggesting otherwise (even tho it's been nagging at me).

does anyone know what element in skin studio this is?  I've ran through the big list a few times, I cannot search it out by guessing the name and I haven't spotted it by just looking for it.  I'm sure that's not going to do much for me since this is happening in every skin, but I'd still like to know.

Edit/update: I just tested EVERY skin I have... there is an exception to what I said, it's not happening in the Aero skins or windows classic...  so... hmm, I'm at a loss.

Theme

I just wanted to be a bit clearer, just in case. Have to actually end wb service. Right click desktop, click and open theme manager area, make sure you choose a theme from this route. I only mention this on the off chance you just applied a Aero skin through WB and not windows. Big difference.    Good luck.

That will happen on windows 7 when the skin author has included a graphical window background.

Umm Explorer background (glass), that is

yeah, totally unloaded WB.  also did it from within WB with the same results.  this leads me to thinking I've made some change somewhere that I can't remember or didn't realize that it would have other effects.

thanks you guys...   2of3.... I appreciate it.  I'll keep poking at it and see if I can find something out.

That sucks.  By any chance have you updated any drivers or installed anything new before this happened?

Or , and you probably have thought of it, have you did a restore to an earlier time?

Or, by accident, set a high contrast Windows theme? I have done that and recall having a time fixing. I had a similar issue, slightly different result. Mine was just very washed out in the Explorer Backgrounds, and I just kept reapplying and removing saved themes through windows, got it eventually to look right.

Well, all I got! I will keep it in my head just in case! Good luck, Happy New Year. DT1

I was looking at the second image you posted and seems odd the folder Bar area and the explorer Back are appearing as one image instead of two. Do you have the right side pane or panel open?  If not, when open, how does it appear? If that side is bad to, it has to be something in your windows os, not wb, because sks does not skin those areas. Okay, nothing else. DT1

He has the nav pane hidden. That's the regular explorer background. Like I said, The skin author has skinned the Glass explorer background. If you delete the code from that section in sks it should clear it up

WB UNLOADED, PROBLEM PERSISTS. :-"
