A totally amazing revolutionary scientific discovery!!

and one for sifi as well. ;)

http://www.radiolab.org/story/267124-speed/

OMG, its a dream come true, the impossible becomes possible! :)

At this rate Sifi won't be anymore, it will be non-fiction!

the third story is what I am raving about by the way, I could hardly believe my ears!

And checkout some other stories too, you can learn alot about current events and technology before it becomes common knowledge, thus making you cool. ;)

Spread the word that teleporting and FTL travel is near!

Hmm....well great, she found out how to stop light (It's molecules or whatever) on an Atomic level, but to do that to other matter on a Big scale....

-Gonna be a party pooper and say it sounds like it's a bit too soon to jump upn down just yet about FTL & Teleportation.

-HOWEVER -Really cool she did this thing to Light though  :star:

Imagine it as the first tech on the tech tree...the base of all future technology.

Just the possibility of stopping light makes many of Si-Fi's dumbest novels and shows have some realistic properties. (like star trek)

There was a discussion about micro black holes on the galciv3 forums and how technology was not there yet. Yet somehow absolute zero atoms rapped in a magnetic field have stopped light thus emulating a black hole in the year 2014! And they are controllable!!! ;)

This is wonderful news!

Dude...I'm still waiting for George Jetson's car...it's gonna be a looooooong looooooong while before you go jumping ahead in time and space ;)

Still waiting on the weather forecaster to it correct.  With all the current technology they still can't do much better than a coin flip.    :-"

Isn't it great we have things we don't need? imagine if FTL travel came in 10 years. We would all have a planet, abuse Earth even more, agree on nothing, and be hunted down by alien species for trying to destroy, take over, mate with, and sell everything! Best we worry about the weather and George jetsons car, or listen to more radio lab. (the program which the link is from. :3

Eh...

That's a pretty misleading story, they're using lenses to focus the light to a point as it shoots to the next lens.  It's not cloaking what's behind it, just focusing on a point.  The two pictures are both missing obstruction of the center of the lens path, as it would then show a blowup of his skin.  It's also directional, only works when you're lined up with the structured path.

The practical applications of prisms and lenses are numerous, but cloaking isn't one of them.  Stopping light on the other hand is quite impressive.

Yeah, I said stopped.  She's done quite a bit more than the blurb up top.
