Black Friday 2014

Black Friday 2014 is approaching, and while I don't even think about standing in line at a store any more, there are usually some good deals to be found online.  There's really nothing in particular I'm looking for, but since I'm getting ready to piece together a new PC, maybe I can find some components on sale.

Good resources:

Anything you are hoping to grab on sale?

I have lots of hopes and wants but no spare cash as I'm trying to save as much as I can to get a place of my own... not that I expect much to happen this side of X-mas.  It's just not a good time of year for renting and it's not likely to pick up until Feb, March next year, though I hope to find somewhere before then.

As for PC components, I'd love a 12 core Intel Xeon, matching mobo, 64gb of RAM and a couple of 1TB SSDs to go in my Thermaltake Level 10, if I were cahed up and in the market on Black Friday 2014.

Not asking for much, just 6 grand's worth, give or take.

None of that for me... crooks hips mean I'm not on my feet long enough for them to bleed; I don't feel the cold that much; if somebody ripped something out of my hands I'd snap them off at the knees and take it back after a few well placed kicks to the groin, etc.  I hate rude shoppers almost as much as I hate bankers.

This one time, when I was a single dad with 2 small kids, this woman tried to snatch a packet of disposable nappies that was on sale out of my hands... yeah, right. We jostled over it for a while and when I felt her pulling harder I just let go, she fell flat on her arse and lost her grip on the packet. I then went over, picked it up and proceeded to the checkout.

Another time a woman rammed me with her shopping trolley and demanded I hand over the last remaining tin of coffee that was on sale for half price.  I refused so she tried to rammed me again, so I sidestepped and she knocked over an end display of peaches in jars, leaving her with a rather large bill for the damage.  So really, it doesn't pay to be rude, arrogant or unreasonably demanding whilst out shopping... especially not with a grumpy old starkers who's been on his feet way too long in the supermarket.

One thing I wouldn't mind coming way down in price on Black Friday [yes, we get it here in Oz, too] is a HP 23" touchscreen monitor.  I had a play with one in Officeworks and quite liked it, being very responsive and appealing to the eye as well.  It also has built-in sound that's quite reasonable as well, given the size of the speakers.  It was $350 at the time, but if I could snap one up for around $270ish or less I'd be rather tempted.

Oh well.  :'(

Hehe, rather you than me... for both the standing and the rain bits.  If I watch any V8 Supercars this weekend, I'll be getting wet on the inside...  like with a few beers while I'm thinking about you getting wet on the outside.

Oh please. It's not a proper Black Friday until someone dies.

Nah, it has to be a whole bunch of people... like bankers seeking bargains; purlioning politicians filling their own pockets; advertisers who caused regular prices to be so high anyway, and little old ladies who ram you with shopping trollies and leave you battered and bruised all over.

O:)

Probably!!!!  By the time they reduce the 500% markup by 10%, yup, people think they're getting a bargain. O:)
