IMO Naphaz is a wimp

I've played with all of the heros so far, and Naphaz seems to be the weakest.

His abilities seem underwhelming relative to the cost (expending hit points). Maybe I've been getting unlucky dice rolls, but all his abilities ever seem to do is nick or scratch his opponents. And if the opponent resists, it takes no damage at all.

I assume he was made weak to offset/balance the tyrant's ability to absorb shards.

I suggest de-buffing the shard absorption ability and making Naphaz's stronger.

Oddly I had the opposite feeling, Naphaz felt much stronger than Peregan. Mostly because the ranger lacks any HP buffing traits (and I didn't play the ranger till the end-game so didn't get a good feel for his traits). I just find it annoying to die to the odd ranged attack.
Anyway I equipped Naphaz early with loot gained from corrupt land spells (He doesn't start with a sword, also increasing doomsday also buffed him later due to doomsday-linked traits) and beelined for the Sovereign doomsday-lined skill. I do think he has a lot of 'noob-trap' useless abilities. But well equipped with high doomsday he's faster, stronger and can operate alone while your army scouts and collects loot. Also he can punch hard and kill entire armies with spells.

I posted my thoughts here: http://forums.sorcererking.com/459160/page/1/#3505189

What traits did you pick for him? Which did you like which felt weak? Were you using him with a big army or alone? I've not seem much talk at all of the new stuff... I'm sure a detailed description of the bad experience you had with him would be helpful. I know I only posted my thoughts after a little prompting.

Also, since I've not had much experience with Peregan. What makes him good? I found it annoying that his bow lowers his initiative so much and he has such low HP... and the special summon is really slow. I like having high movement, being slow really annoys me (I get annoyed that the army moves as fast as the slowest member, someone please get them a horse and cart). Also a lack of any ranged craftables makes the entire experience feel very... 'placeholder'. Also I don't like paying a level for a pet scout. I want to enjoy that sovereign... perhaps a different insight would make me revisit him.

I'm with Dr. Franknfurter on this. I'm find Naphaz to be the most powerful of all the heroes with the right setup. I normally play on hard.

He may look like a caster, but equip him with the highest-attack weapon and get all the doom-related boosts and he can solo almost anything out there. End-game I equipped him with a serrated longsword.

His ability that allows him to do weapon damage to every unit at the cost of 2 hp is incredibly powerful. It never misses and is only on a 2-turn cooldown. Combine that with the ability that grants immunity to physical damage for 3 rounds and healing for 5 per turn means that I can completely destroy most armies in 4 turns and still be at full hp at the end.

I'm not in-game so can't remember the names of any of the abilities, so my apologies for horrible naming...

Turn 1: Cast immunity to physical (can be skipped if no archers and you don't mind the hp loss from abilities)

Turn 2: Spell that attacks all enemies for weapon damage

Turn 3: Spell that does 4+2/shard damage to all enemies

Turn 4: Spell that attacks all enemies for weapon damage

Turn 5 if needed: Drain life/normal attack/skip

Turn 6 if needed: Spell that attacks all enemies for weapon damage

Repeat 5 and 6 until everything's dead.

I rarely needed to go to turn 5 once I got the serrated longsword.

With the doom-related boosts, he can move further than almost any unit out there so the only thing you have to worry about are casters and ranged as he can kite any melee unit.

Naphaz has this red cross on his weapon slot, so thought one cannot give him a weapon till the very end of that game. With weapon he really looks amazing.

I found Peregan with melee weapon is good, too. Most of his abilities works with sword, and he is cool firing swords from his bow :). Low hp is an issue, but manageble.
