Comments on viewing traits for units

There are two parts to this post.

First, when I'm hovering over an enemy or friendly in combat I want to see a tooltip with what traits and magical effects are applied to the unit. This should appear when I'm trying to select a target to attack. Currently, there is a way to make it appear by hovering over the unit action list. This makes no sense, I'm not going to drudge through that list to find my target. This tooltip should appear when I hover over an enemy on the map. Either next to the mouse or near the bottom right corner of the screen. It is every bit as informative as this crap and includes other information I actually want to know as well. This will also help make traits more visible in the game - right now they are practically hidden and can for the most part be ignored anyway. You actually had a tooltip like that back in the day in FE, but after some bad design decisions you relocated it to the obscurity of the unit action list. Obviously only combat-relevant traits should show up in the list of traits, but I believe you already have an XML tag for that. This is what the final result might look like.

Second, for champions the unit details window quickly becomes swamped in icons. This is just at level 4. Abilities that are visible in the Skills tab should not appear in the previous tab.

(Looking at the combat UI, I also realise I have no way to know what any particular magical effect is doing to any unit. I can't access the encyclopedia from inside combat. Pretty important to have that information accessible.)

UI certainly needs some love - imo, it is one of Stardock's biggest failings recently.

Tooltips should appear ON MAP for multi-unit attacks / spells (probably even for single target). Looking in the corner isn't as convenient, and doesn't help at all for multiple units.

Tooltips on enemy units major abilities/hp/etc.

Ability to equip armor and see stats at same time. Ability to see all my hero abilities.

Notifications should appear in bottom right, not top left. Notifications need an X button to close when opened, not just minimize and then close.

Cities need growth and essence indicators.

Easier access to sovereign tree

Crafting UI needs a rework

It is funny that Stardock does develope custom UIs for Windows and yet bot User Interfaces in Galactic Civilizations 3 and Sorcerer King have been kind of bad IMO :D.

One would assume that they have quite some experience in this area.

Also a lot of the champion traits need to be rewritten to be more specific. If something deals massive damage, I want to know how much damage. If something slows someone, I want to know how much it slows someone.

Bump. This is probably the worst part about the game right now. Monster traits are too unaccessible for the quick combat style the game adapts. I have to double-click on enemy targets, then slowly hover over each trait to see what it does.

Furthermore, often the information is useless. Like Trog Archers that have a trait which says "This hero can equip bows". Other traits give no relevant information - "This unit can cast Battlecry". That's great, except I can't access the hiergamenon from inside battles so... what does Battlecry do again?

I agree with HF here.  For instance, defense isn't even presented in the tactical battle cards.  I mean, I realize it's not like defense is fecking relevant to almost every single decision made in tactical combat... wtf???

Oh, and the other stuff too, especially showing spell mastery and elemental resistances on the unit details screen.  I also never actually want to see these...
