Ran out of spells to lean again, but I'm sure there were more

In my current game, I have no more spells to research. I know this because the  "chose a new spell" page is coming up blank, each time I reach a lore milestone.

The problem is, I am certain that I haven't learned all of the available spells (or those that should still be available to learn)

For example, I never chose sacrifice, so it should keep on popping up as an available spell to lean, ...until I choose it.

However, even that spell has disappeared from the list of available spells to lean.

Is there a limit to how many spells the sovereign can learn? Does the sovereign need to reach a specific level before being able to add new spells to his spellbook?

If it were a bug, I'm sure someone would have reported it by now, so I must be missing something.

I'm confused.

I reported this. I think someone said more spells are coming as Early Access marches on.

Thanks davrovana,

But it's not about a lack of spells. Rather, spells that should be available to learn, and were showing up for a while,  just seem to disappear after a certain point in time, and are no longer available to choose from.

I believe it is a design feature to make choosing spells matter. In other words, when you see a spell you want, grab it then or you may not see it later. I believe they implemented this to eliminate the "player will eventually research everything" syndrome. I like the direction of this. Of course I could be wrong; maybe it is a bug.

Thanks AlLanMandragoran,

That would make sense, although I don't agree with that approach. (with buildings yes, with spells, no.)

SD, is this limitation intended by design?

Yep.

Basically, now that we have people playing, let's hear what you'd like in.

Yep.

Ok, then I'd like to suggest for a branch to be added to the sovereign's skill tree that would allow him to learn additional spells beyond the current hard limit.

It would function in a similar way to the branch that increases the maximum number of spells to be cast in battle or the branch that increases the maximum number of units allowed in a stack.

I agree with Borg. Although I like the idea that you need to grab the best spells when you can, I don't like to have a hard limit to how many spells you can learn.
Maybe it's hard to balance, but I think it would be better if there was a bigger spell base to choose from and then be able to research spells infinitely. In order to make this easier to balance, you could alter the research times like you did with technologies in FE - every time you research a new spell, increase the research time for all un-researched spells.

I really don't like to suddenly not have anything at all to research.

Really strange.  I have yet to run out of spells, despite having played some LONG games.  Running beta 3.1 and have done all the sovereigns.  any idea why my experience is different?

I would almost like a way to skip a learn new spell as the current selection may have nothing of interest and i already have too many to sort through when casting.

A way to order you spells i your book would be nice, so you could put your favorites/most often used up front instead of scrolling through 4 pages looking for the right one.
