Unballanced AI?

I'm curious, is it just me or is the AI really unballanced?

I am asking because every time I play a game against either the terran empire or the thalan empire, these two rape the competition!

Of course because I am still a noob I end up falling behind in everything and get raped myself because either of them end up being 100% ahead of me in research and I just can't keep up in a war which they always eventually declare on me.
