Where I used to go to high school, none of the high school stereotypes that you see in movies were really present. Sure the different cliques are there, but group relations are incredibly friendly and there is considerable overlap for everyone. The old stereotype of jocks being dumb and bullying the other kids didn't seem to hold much water. For example, the class president was simultaneously a jock, a band geek, an anime lover and a computer science nerd. 

In fact, these stereotypes seemed to be stronger in middle school, as students were just coming to terms with puberty. There, those above epithets were used quite frequently and with much derision. The "mean girls" clique did really exist, and the cat fights between them were pretty legendary. Fast foward to high school, and the mean girls group sort of faded into obscurity. Sure, they'were still the most attractive in the school but they mostly hung out in seclusion and were not even that popular anymore, at least compared with some of the less hot girls.

Thoughts? Maybe I just lived a sheltered life but I don't really believe the typical HS stereotypes exist anymore.
