Recent Apps Issue

Hi,

Im running Start 8 (1.45) on Windows 8.1.1 Enterprise x64 and seem to have an issue with recent apps not updating at all.

I have tried setting Start8 to 9 large item list, and set Windows Jump List to 9 items and items don't display. I have tried setting this to different number combinations but cant get start8 to display recently used programs.

Any ideas please?

I have also tried updating to Windows 8.1.3 (Latest Version from Winver.) All updates from Microsoft Update.

Start8 uses the information stored by the OS for that.  Is it possible you have disabled this in the OS?

If you right click on the taskbar and pick properties and then go to the Jump Lists tab do you have both checkboxes under privacy checked?

Also make sure you do not have something running which clears the lists.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I have tripled check all group policys. This is an isolated machine in a test env. with a single server and single workstation.

The recent apps list gets totally populated with 9 entries then shouldn't that scroll? I don't see anything after the 9 apps have been polulated? Tried multiple reboots? Should recent apps show from the top down?

I have also noticed when right clicking and removing some items from the history I can see the apps I opened before the 9 apps filled the list?

I feel like IM doing something wrong or misconfigured but I have triple checked everything.

Other Start Menus I have tried seem to work fine, so makes me think it might not be my configuration

Open to suggestions but I would really like to roll Start8 across my enterprise.

Thanks.

Matt,

In the Start8 install directory, run start8tweak.exe.  Try this option:

I may take some time to change.

For your other question, there is no 'scroll' to get to other used apps.  One way to see more, however would be to use small icons and crank up the count like so:
