Can we get a reason to rush resources early in game. Currently there is no reason to do so.

Can we get bump in firepower if we mine resources early, For example mining Elerium give us a 5% dmg increase to beams and correlating increase to shields.

Here are some questions collected over this week:

Planet construction/destruction : Any thoughts on being able to utterly destroy a planet, create one from the rubble left behind or make a uninhabitable planet habitable? I believe it would be neat to have the option to keep expanding or consolidate the space around you in the long game.

Of course this would probably have to be a hefty production/special resource sink to do so for balance.

I'm curious if it's possible, in the ship designer, to have your mouse cursor create a larger popup image of the part you put your mouse over. I play at 1920x1080 resolution and many of the parts are very small in the area where you select them. It would be great/convenient, if it's not a hassle to do and is considered worth while to do, to have your mouse cursor bring up a larger image of the part it's hovering over. I know you can select it and then see it in the main window, it's just that I thought it might be easier/faster to have this in order to preview what the part looks like.

Are there more resources than the ones introduced in the last update.

Please, Please give us a way if the starter block was used to change the hull size. I know several us designed what should be huge ships early on in the alpha when the largest hull was medium.  In gc2 it was easy to do because the files were text.  You could simply change the name of the starting block to get the right hull.

Will there be togganble/slider graphics options such as gods rays/ heat haze/Vignette etc?

Regarding Custom Races:

When creating a custom race will we be able to assign its home planet?   This would be especially useful for those of us who have been fortunate enough (as well as being willing to shell out 99 bucks) to have been able to name a sun.  I would love to be able to have one of the planets of my sun be my custom race's home planet.

Thanks,

Don "Raelalt" Freeman

Yes, I would like to know more about what options we will have the ability to customize for our custom races, please go into detail...  This would include...

1.  Race special abilities (yes this has been answered but not in detail)

2.  Race portraits (yes this has been answered)

3.  Race logo's  (yes this has been answered)

4.  Home planet habitable tiles... (this has not been answered or talked about in anyway)

5.  Home star system number planets...  (this has not been answered or talked about)

6.  Home star system habitable planets... (this has not been answered or talked about)

7.  Home star system color of star  (this has not been answered or talked about)

8.  Home star system number of astroids  (this has not been answered or talked about)

9.  Home planet rings/moons  (this has not been answered or talked about)

10.  Home star system extreme planet options  (this has not been answered or talked about)

Most of this could work based on a points system that I had mentioned several times in the past such as your home system gets 16 habitable points that one could split on however many planets they wanted to, plus extreme planets may only use up 1/2 point as they won't be fully usable until later in the game.  ect...

Quoting Seilore, reply 9

Another question that has been asked several times is the possibility of twin (binary) or (trinary) star systems.  binary star systems were mentioned very early on but hasn't been mentioned since and is not in the game at this point.

Will we be able to all or partially glass a planet using regular or a special ship?

How advanced will be the AI this time regarding diplomacy?
In GC2 AI didn't want to trade weapon techs or some other important ones unless you gave him unfairly lots of other techs or money in return. Will be there a better balance this time?
And what differences with GC2? Will be there spies? (I hope not so expensive like in GC2)

When the immense size map will be released?
The 100 players game was interesting but what about the opposite? A game with immense (or larger) map and 4-5 players being far away from each other. They don't meet untill late when their empires are already very big and advanced.

Last one, there are 4 different options for UI size but for the moment only 2 are available which makes it difficult for me working on a 27" monitor at 2560x1440. Will be the the other settings released in next patch or later?

Spying is important to get right.  If it's not in at launch I don't want to see a haphazard mechanic added later.

Could be a simple question:

Can you move a part in the ship designer once it's placed? Or do you have to remove it and choose the part from the list again?

Currently you have to remove the part and place it again, but we hope to eventually let you move them.

Just finished watching the replay on youtube.

I think the dev streams are great, i really appreciate that Stardock takes the time to do this. I really enjoy watching them and seeing a game getting better and and more complete every week.

Special thanks to Adam and Paul (and Ray!) for hosting this friday night delight.

(I'm from the Netherlands so the dev stream starts at 9 in the evening for me.)

You should add a real time search box in the diplomacy window, similar to windows start menu. This will help so much compared to scrolling if there is hundreds of planets/ships.

Good idea.

as much as I enjoy the idea of the united planets, I'd much rather see such an alliance/group thing as potentially multiple alliances/groups.

the Federation doesn't automatically have final say over every race in the galaxy, only the ones who joined it. and in some cases there are other governing bodies present within the galaxy.

for example. two different races meet, they create a united planets sort of alliance.

two OTHER seperate races meet and do the same.

with neither of them having any knowledge of the other, the two alliances would form and make decisions that didn't actively effect the other.

upon having races from either alliance meeting, they could hold two seperate meetings where they vote on what to do, do they join the two? do they remain separate? if they DO join, what policies would they adapt? which ones would they abolish? would some races quit? would the two alliances eventually go to war?

I enjoy the concept of a separatist council of sorts and the potential for at least two united factions deciding how to handle the existence of the other.
