How to increase maximum trade routes?

Hello!

I'm currently playing Terran (Macdonalds Federation) on an economic crusade.

But I realised that the amount of trade routes available (even while maximised) are very few. 

I would like to have increase the number of routes, but google hasn't really been my friend :/. So is there a mod that I haven't found or a file that I can edit?

The maximum amount of trade routes possible is 12. That amount is hardcoded and cannot be changed.
