Game gets stuck on the loading screen - running on an I7 Surface Pro 3 - specs shouldn't be an issue...
I looked up MicroSoft's Surface Pro 3 specs, and since MS advertizes this tablet as a replacement for laptops, it sure looks like this one, which comes with 8G RAM, should be able to handle GC3. However, there may be something in it that the SD people haven't seen, so you should report this issue as described in the post "GalCiv III Support FAQ".
It really should, it runs on my Yoga, which has lower specs. We will look into it, we defensibly want to support the surface if at all possible.
Alright, with the latest update from today it now gets past the loading screen and works - new problem though, the govern screen for planets doesn't show the terrain, just the icons for stat bonuses. Anyone else experiencing this?
Performance is also really bad right now even with everything turned down, but then again, SP3 only has Intel hd5000... Not sure once things get hectic with more races if this'll be playable without a dedicated graphics card.
DARCA has a point, but without knowing what level your drivers are no one can advise you to do so. The post "GalCiv III Support FAQ" has instructions for running DxDiag. Use that to find the level and date of your GPU driver and compare that with the downloadable drivers on the Intel web site.
Marcus, this sounds like the same problem I posted about back in July.
I have found that the planet management screen won't display properly at 5760x1080 or 4800x900. I have to use 1920x1080 in windowed mode if I want to play the game.
My regular 5760x1080 resolution worked in Galciv2, so I'm hoping this eventually gets fixed.
Beautiful - that did the trick. Hopefully some of the higher resolutions get supported though - feels like I'm kind of gimping my experience. Game runs fairly smoothly on SP3 now, only thing that's a little bit choppy is when I zoom in/out and slide the map around with touch.
