Israel's violence against civilians in the Gaza Strip

The world must not allow this war crime

The State of Israel owes its origin to the crimes of the Europeans, the Germans who massacred around 6 million Jews during the last two years of the Second World War. Of course this horrendous crime had to be expiated and the Americans and the British made the Palestinians pay for the crimes of their fellow white men. Israel is fast losing the sympathy it has rightly won for its several outstanding achievements: its civic programme, its educational institutions, its fairly successful practice of democracy. However, in its treatment of the displaced Palestinians, Israel is showing its true colours. Even John Kerry, the US Secretary of State in an unguarded moment called Israel an Apartheid State. one in which racial discrimination is legally enforced. The Arabs living in the territories are treated as second class citizens with limited access to education, employment or health. And the Right Wing parties like the Likud are further aggravating the situation by opposing the two state solution. The cycles of violence unleashed by Israel as retaliation for the kidnapping and killing of three Jewish teenagers from one of the settlements that has sprung up in the occupied territories is both disproportionate and beyond the limits of civilized state conduct. Without unleashing such fire power against the people of the Gaza Strip, Israel could have dealt with the crisis in a more balanced manner. In any event, the Israelis too extracted their revenge when they killed a young boy, by beating him and burying him alive. The silence from the Nobel Peace Prize Winner, the President of USA, Barack Obama is disquieting. Both Obama and Kerry are not willing to even condemn  the aerial attacks on Palestinian civilians.

The Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel and the Israeli media justifies the full blooded attack on unarmed civilians by saying that Hamas deserves to be punished for firing rockets. It must be stated that Hamas rockets have not caused a single casualty in Israel while in the current round of bloodletting, the Israelis have killed 563 Palestinians and wounded more than 1500 civilians. It appears that the motive behind this state sponsored massacre is to weaken the resolve of the Palestinians in the Gaza strip who are supporters of the Hamas. Therefore the killing of civilians is part of a strategy pursued by Israel and if the Bosnian Serbs can be tried for killing Muslims during the Balkan Crisis of the 1990s. by the same logic the Israeli political leadership is also culpable. The Arab League, the organization of autocratic Oil Rich state which legitimized the invasion of Iraq and Libya are keeping quiet. Saudi Arabia which is usually very eloquent on issues dealing with Muslim affairs is keeping a deathly silence over this entire issue. It appears that the Arab world has decided to allow Israel to solve the Palestinian Question like Hitler solved or attempted to solve the Jewish Question. The UN has lost its legitimacy before the entire world due to its inability to prevent USA from invading Iraq in 2003 and most people now believe that UN is just a facade behind which the white nations hide to carry out their atrocities on non white people. Unfortunately the discourse on Palestine centers around the muslim identity of the people forgetting the fact that a considerable number of them are Christians.

In 2009 when Israel invaded Gaza Strip it killed more than  hundred people and wounded around 1, 500. With this kind of violence unfolding can the World be silent.

I wonder how you'd feel if Pakistan lobbed a few (thousand) rockets into India?

Selected text from the Hamas Charter (emphasis added where present):

Under the shadow of Islam it is possible for the members of the three religions: Islam, Christianity and Judaism to coexist in safety and security. Safety and security can only prevail under the shadow of Islam, and recent and ancient history is the best witness to that effect.

[because Hamas aspires] to unite, not to divide; to safeguard, not to squander; to bring together, not to fragment. It values every kind word, every devoted effort and every commendable endeavor. It closes the door before marginal quarrels, it does not heed rumors and biased statements, and it is aware of the right of self-defense.

I swear by that who holds in His Hands the Soul of Muhammad! I indeed wish to go to war for the sake of Allah! I will assault and kill, assault and kill, assault and kill (told by Bukhari and Muslim).

As to the objectives: discarding the evil, crushing it and defeating it, so that truth may prevail, homelands revert [to their owners], calls for prayer be heard from their mosques, announcing the reinstitution of the Muslim state.

The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree (cited by Bukhari and Muslim)

And the best for last:

Their scheme has been laid out in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and their present [conduct] is the best proof of what is said there.

I also had no idea how many Rotary Clubs and Lions Clubs they must have in Israel.  Death to the Rotarians!  And watch out for those Freemasons!

You should check out the whole thing - it's a rollicking read.

Given current trends, our future is either the 22nd century, or the 13th.  Not at all clear which it will ultimately be.

The point is the civilian deaths. Unrestrained war against civilian non combatants is a war crime

The International Community is really concerned about the disproportionate response from Israel. Cosider just the fact:

Hamas rockets killed 0 Israelis

Israel killed 1060 Palestinians maimed 1600 more.

Os this not terrible?

Winning is disproportionate.  So if there were an equal number of Israeli deaths this war/military action would be just fine & dandy with you?  What nonsense.

It should also be a war crime (may be already, but if so conveniently ignored by many including the usual-suspect media) to force women and children to be human shields to protect rocket launchers.

And, of course, it goes without saying that Hamas meant no harm firing all those rockets into Israel, and carefully targeted them to hit nothing.

If reports are to be believed, the only civilian casualties of Hamas rocket attacks have been Gazans.

And, 'Welcome back!', BTW.  Been a while.  ;)

Thank you, Daiwa. My little girl was busy with her school exams and I was tied up with her preparations for Law school. And now that she is in Law School, I am relatively free and back to blogging.

What the Western Media calls "Rockets" very grandly are just fire crackers that make a lot of noise and do not even destroy buildings. It has not killed anyone in Israel so far and that is the fact we need to be concerned with.

Except for Gazan buildings, apparently.

I'll grant you the quassams are small but you wouldn't willingly agree to have one aimed at you.

And there's more than just quassams.  They're using these and grad-type rockets as well.

This seems interesting.

Fire crackers? How about we lob a couple of those fire crackers into your house, you might see things differently. The reason no one has been killed by these "fire crackers" is the Iron dome. Are you telling us it's okay to fire rockets into the neighboring countries as long you don't kill any one? What a load of BS.

Hamas is responsible for ALL of those dead Palestinians. Hamas is terrorist group who have no regard for human life. All they care about is their cult of evil.

Comparing Israel to to Nazi Germany!? You are one sick puppy. I'm sure you have satellite photos of the ovens waiting the arrival of all the Palestinians.

I was reading that article and saying to myself, "This could have been written by Bahu."

Got to the end - bingo.

Until Hamas and all the other fanatic nutjob organizations bent on Israel's destruction drag their asses out of the 16th century and accept Israel's right to exist, none of this jaw-flapping matters one bit.  Israel is willing to co-exist, they are not.

Actually, there is a solution to the immediate circumstances: stop firing rockets (even 'firecrackers') and fill in the tunnels, the Israeli bombing will end.

We cannot conflate the two situations. Hamas is fighting Israel and the suspicion that it is using civilians as shoields may well be true. However, Israel unlike Hamas is a state and has certain obligations towards International Law. If Israel can be equated with Hamas then m,uch of the criticism makes sense. Not otherwiise.

After reading the article you linked, I see where you get your talking points. Israel has put out a lot of effort to NOT to harm civilians during this operation. More than any other government in history.  Should they just give up and walk into the sea? You Jew haters would love that.

So. The famous double standard. There's no "may".

They are and do. Not just on the roofs of their houses/missile factories/covers for terror tunnels. They walk across "dead spaces" (where anything moving gets killed) with a child strapped to their chests.

There is no "moral equivalency" nor "disproportionate" number of deaths. Unless you'd like to see dead Jews, of course. Israel built shelters for people, not for missiles and use people to shield their missiles.

M75's are not firecrackers. They are artillery equivalents.

That number of civilian deaths? Despite Hamas' efforts to hide its fighters, The Guardian and NYT (hardly pro-Israel) analyzed the Hamas controlled Gaza Health stats and found that a disproportionately high number of males of military age had died. Also, Israel doesn't stage the news, nor intimidate journalists.

Ridiculous argument, anyway.
