Crash reporting: Is the SteamWorks crash reporting facility working?

Here is a question that needs to be answered by the StarDock GC3 support team for all of us.

I have been told by someone at Stardock on the chat net that the SteamWorks crash reporting facility only works with 32 bit programs, which would mean that none of the crashes we have get gathered and sent to the StarDock GC3 support team.

Is this true?

I have also been told that crash reports made using the StarDock support page must include the file created by the Stardock utility SDSupportTool (which can be downloaded), but have never gotten a clear understanding of what other files should be sent with it.

Add to this that the GC3 forum support post "GalCiv III support FAQ" has differing instructions, reporting crashes has become confusing and uncertain. Come on, StarDock. We need some warm fuzzies here that you really are getting ALL of the crashes we are experiencing. And we need a consistent set of instructions telling us how to report them. Please put these clarifications in the "GalCiv III support FAQ"

I think the problem is that the crash reporting mechanism only works on 32-bit aps :(

Thanks for posting your concerns!

I can personally assure you that posts made on the support forums, I or someone on the support team have seen it. Currently the crash reporting via steam only works for 32 bit applications. The forum post titled, "GalCiv III Support FAQ" has complete instructions for which files are needed in order for me to look at those files to get a better understanding of the situation.

Thanks for your answer.

Now if the reporting mechanism can just be fixed ....

For example ticket #IXP-820-60544 has at least four commingled tickets, #VDJ-347-95767, #SNB-575-67083, #BTO-182-79047, and MJW-806-55031, all of  which I submitted on the same day. This also happened to me during the beginning of the Alpha with several other tickets.
