Elite Founders can now download the latest Galactic Civilizations III build from Steam. We’re thrilled to get a few big-ticket features into your hands along with serious performance improvements and much more.

Among other things, Alpha 3 adds the new Starport system that brings back the dual production queue feature from previous GalCiv games with a twist – starships are now produced in mobile deep space construction yards, which can have multiple planetary sponsors supplying the manufacturing muscle.

The planet screen has been extensively reworked, and though there’s much more to come in terms of managing planets, we’re very pleased to have usable sectors correspond to the randomized map of each planet and for all the other changes we’ve already gotten in.

PLEASE NOTE – For technical reasons, we’ve changed the game to build a texture atlas the first time it runs on a machine. Don’t freak out if it takes a long time to load the intro movie after the lovely Lord Kona splash screen.

So I was watching LOTR Two Tower on my Samsung big screen until I noticed the patch download on steam. That was the prompting to try my PC on the 55" for the first time today. Let's just say the Gal Civ 3 alpha 3 is looking pretty nice.  :)

Does any one know the new console command to unlock the research tree? The old UNLOCK command deletes the other race and causes the game to free when you hit next turn button
