Steam Won't Let Me Play :(

So recently, everytime I've tried to play the game it says that either steam or my internet connection is not working properly and it cannot connect; thus, I am unable to play the game! Nothing is wrong with my internet connection. How can I fix this, thanks guys!

Have you attempted to completely exit Steam and start it up again? How about verifying the game cache by right clicking the game, selecting properties, then Local Files and Verify Integrity of Game Cache?
