Did I... only dream about massive ship hulls?

I've not been playing GCII in a long time, but now, when I saw that Steam sold the game and all expansions for an extremely good price, I couldn't resist.

I've been playing the game quite a lot in the past few days, and it was awesome, but something seemed... off.

Wasn't there a hull class after "huge"? Weren't there "massive" ship hulls? At first, I thought it was because I was using the Drath tech tree, but in the ship designer, the other races seemed to have no access to massive hulls as well.

When I looked around the internet for answers, surprisingly I couldn't find references to massive hulls at all, at least after a cursory search.

So... were there really massive ship hulls in the game, or were they just a dream?

If they really existed, why were they removed?

Huge has been the biggest hull size as long as I have played the game. Maybe there were bigger ones during the beta, but I wasn't here at that time.

Still, could it be, that you are thinking of "Massive Scale Building"? That's the name of the tech that unlocks huge hulls.

I don't think so. I distinctively remember massive hulls, that looked a lot different from what is huge these days.

I really liked them since most of them were relatively "smooth", so they were easier to costumize than their smaller counterparts.

Honestly, I'm a bit shocked right now. I didn't even play the beta, and considering your join date, you should have known about the massive hulls if they existed. I'm... fairly sure they did.

Mysterious.

There has never been anything bigger in GC2 - you may be thinking of another game.

Improbable. GCII is the only game I've ever played where you can built ships...

It is probably time I'd have to admit to myself I'm going crazy.

Well, if you really wanted to you could mod in that size class.

I've gone for a slightly different approach, redistributing hull sizes a bit.  I still have to test it though.
