Radeon 6800 drivers

Hiya all,

I just wanted to ask for advice which drivers I should be using with my Radeon 6800. I have some older drivers installed (13.251, as Windows reports) from the 06th Dec 2013. I think I tried going to the ATI site and download the catalyst control centre and update my drivers to the latest, my I seem to remember that it said they no longer supported it. Is that true or am I remembering wrong? Which drivers are people using and getting the best performance with windows 8 64bit?

Hmm, maybe I just did something wrong. The autodetect certainly didn't work for me. I'll try to download them manually. 

How about performance? I know people tend to stick with certain sets of drivers instead of updating all the time as they provide better performance in games than others. I didn't update mine for a while because of this.

I can understand the caution you exercise about drivers, because some people have been burned in the distant past with faulty updates. In my experience this happens rarely. When involved in a Beta test (and Alpha in this case), I have found that keeping up with the current drivers can be crucial, since the developers often have requirements of the drivers that drive the need for the updates.

Thanks Jack. Yes, it's because I wanted to make sure I am running the alpha with a recent set of drivers, to confirm that any bugs are because of the game and not artefacts of old drivers.

I have updated to 14.4 drivers and so far things seem to be ok. I didn't run any sort of performance benchmarks, but I seem to be getting less slowdowns right after I close the shipyard now.
