Did a few dumb tests with the updated ash related to her passive.  Here's the data

lv 1 - 20% crit chance from runes (literally 100% of your rune are crit (eg dumb))
ad w dorans = 63
melee creep target
crit dmg = 86

lv 1 - 46% increased dmg on crits
ad w dorans = 63
melee creep target
crit dmg = 73

lv 1 - no runes
ad w dorans = 63
melee creep target
crit dmg = 73

lv 1 - norm adc - 8.5 dmg
ad w dorans = 72
melee creep target
crit dmg = 83

I was surprised to see that the increased dmg on crits doesn't appear to work at level 1.  It does apply to some degree once you purchase any crit item, however.  

So, if you have 46% bonus dmg on crits, you get nothing if you have not purchased crit dmg (even though you always crit on folks proc'd.  The moment I buy brawler's gloves for 8% crit, I see her pass number shoot up to 12%  So, i guess it inflates whatever crit % value you've purchased by 46%.  

Anyway, there could be something interesting there...but mayhaps not... as its obviously not practical to use all your runes on crit dmg ofc.  I wonder if there's some combination that would make it worth it, but I think prob not. 

So, I'm liking ash.  More on that in a sec.  

I got to play against someone named Vampyro tonight.  Now, before thunder's head explodes with the need to point the following out, he seemed to have gotten trolled by his awful, awful support.  Then his jungle buddy that was queued up with him tried to babysit him to help him out but things were pretty well lost for him at that point.

Anyway - 2 questions re: him - 1st - brad wong seemed to recognize him and said he was really good, so I played conservatively and didn't buy a zz portal.  Anyway, what do folks know about him?  His just diamond 5 now.  

I noticed he runs a somewhat crazy adc rune page for twitch (ala draven when his passive was god tier).  19.2 arm pen, 9 arm, scaling mr.  ZERO AS.  Reviewing his stats, he does pretty much only play twitch.  His kda is poo in ranked (1.94), but he has a 52% win rate.  Seems pretty hit and miss.  Really good or really smeh.

Anyway, any thoughts on an arm pen setup on twitch?  I think its something you could do if you were god tier in lane perhaps and then you could just destroy mid... but if you f it up early, you are kind of fugged through mid without a jungler carrying you around.  Am I missing something?  Sounds like a really bad idea to me.  

We played against mixed elos tonight, so its hard to say if she's really strong, but I'm liking ash.  Won 3 out of 4 games with 2 perfect kda games (11/0/7 and 5/0/7) with my lowest kda at 3.17.  Usually I'm a bit worse on champs I don't play a lot, so it might be that she's a little strong atm... or folks just don't know what to do with her yet... or we just had favorable matchups.  She might be a little too strong early game.  I think it might be best to put some pressure on her lane early if possible, but she zones pretty well.  

Anyway, anyone else play ash already - thoughts?

I KS'd you a couple of times in lane, so it was actually a 13/0/5 game for you if you want to count those?  Also, I kinda went really mellow when I realized that Bard wasn't just wandering more than a usual Bard does and was most likely AFK/DC'd for most of the laning phase.  I'd say conservatively we could have gotten you (at the very least) two more kills if I was the type that gets super excited about 'grinding' people who are down a person.

So let's call it a 15/0/5 game for you.

I think the most difficult thing to get used to is proper use of her q.  And the reason for that is really just that it used to a toggle ability and you don't activate it the same as you would on the old ash. 

Some day I will feel Vampyro's pain of his favorite champ being reworked (brand, its inevitable..). Not really looking forward to the new champion. He just looks like a stupid assassin and we really needed more of those in league of legends....... kinda looks like he plays like yasou or master yi with the swapping of Zed.

i agree with your evaluation of his runes: there is little/no reason to run ArPen on Twitch given his dependency on autoattacking to stack Expunge + the fact  a bunch of his early game damage comes from true damage. Maybe he is really focused on level 2 kills with a 5-stack expunge alongside a CC-heavy support?

However, it could be a metagame decision: with the popularity of Cinderhulk + Thornmail, earlier Armor Pen is really important, and extra AS just ends up killing you faster. He also might skip out on Last Whisper and do something like BotRK > Shiv > IE.

I've been telling you all that Nasus vs Riven is a good matchup.  But nobody listens.  As long as you don't super feed early, its so easy.

Apparently he got to Diamond playing an extremely low pick rate champ almost exclusively.  That's pretty damn impressive to me.

Maybe his philosophy is that Twitch sucks early anyway so he just plays for the mid/late game and the picks/ganks/outplays?  Or maybe he's just too stubborn to change the runes he had from four years ago when Jungle Twitch was a thing.

Unfortunately he laned against a Leona/Ashe 2.0 pretty much on his own which means that we'll never know how good he is.  Well... cept for that whole Diamond Twitch Main thing he's got going for him.

Well, my life's goal has finally been met.  I have become level 5 blitzcrank.  The ranked world no longer holds any meaning. 

I promoted to level 5 at the same time as a katarina yesterday.  She congratulated us both by saying - grats blitz -we made it.  I replied by saying - at long last, we have proved that we are able to play a champion multiple times to the world!  Dumb arse system.  Would be nice if it actually meant anything other than "plays champion a bunch."  Still, it did get me focused on spamming one champ for a bit... which I guess is a thing that happened. 

bleh - I miss all the lol tourney games on the week/weekend.  Hopefully that will be back soonish. 

Speaking of LCS:

I don't think I'd pull that off on lan for quite some time.  That's a blitzcrank pun and also kind of true.  Even if I won every game, it would take like 80+ hours to get that on blitz.  Queue time in team builder, even for a support at my level, is garbage. Anyway, I'm over lan for a bit.  I tend to get super into crap for a bit and then fizzle out.

I'm more excited about Ali turning an entire minion wave into a mass of mini-murder machines every time he activates his heal.

wut... that applies to creeps... jebus... I mean, it written that way -"another unit," but I doubt that would apply to minions.  Otherwise battle ali in top lane going to be sick.  Just consider any trade near creeps.  Press heal once and do a knock up, now a full wave of creeps is doing + 30 mg damage each... all targeting the enemy champ.  Obv also strong on support, but I'm thinking top lane would just be completely ridiculous.  Anyway, guessing that won't apply to Ali unless they are silly.

Better start practicing Prince ALI top again... rofl

Ardent Censure does work on Alistar + minions at the moment. There's just a huge difference between "just" +25% AS and +30% AS and +30 magic damage...

i fully expect that to get fixed though. good catch by Thunder in any case.

@Cow: When are you taking the GRE? Seems awfully late since you have to go thru your application process? i had to have my GRE done by April 1st. Best of luck in any case.
