The Analects of Confucius are good too. In martial arts we used to say.

"Seek perfection of character.

Be faithful.

Respect others.

Refrain from violent behavior."

That was our do-Jo kun back in the day. :)

But a REALLY REALLY REALLY good piece of advice I heard early in life was from a old man. He said "Never go to bed angry" when it comes to relationships. If I ever do get married I will remember that.
