You know, Barb...sometimes I think Memorial Day should be observed on July 3rd, obviously for the connection with our liberty.

I don't care what holiday they declare for their sales, etc. but I've always thought it was a bit tawdry connecting those sales with a day which should be solemn: Especially now with so many killed and wounded in very recent conflicts. I feel badly for those families still recently or freshly grieving having to watch the bbq's and t.v. sales commercials.

Bravo teddybearcholla My father served in the U.S.M.C SpecialForces 26yrs I served in the mid 70's in the Navy it was during peace time I just have a deep admiration for all those who serve in our Armed Forces so say we all!!! :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

I have an older brother who served in the USMC. Did two tours in Viet Nam. Me...no. During my time it was lottery. I got missed twice.

Theres a lot of us old farts on WC that served.  Retired from the Army in 89.  Just started wearing my NAM hat about 2 years ago and have had dinners bought for me from strangers.  Brought tears to my eyes as I remember how we were treated back then.  I salute all that served. :thumbsup:
