My Father served, me ex served, my brother in law served, my sister served, my nephews served and now the son of one of my nephews is serving.
You know, Barb...sometimes I think Memorial Day should be observed on July 3rd, obviously for the connection with our liberty.
I don't care what holiday they declare for their sales, etc. but I've always thought it was a bit tawdry connecting those sales with a day which should be solemn: Especially now with so many killed and wounded in very recent conflicts. I feel badly for those families still recently or freshly grieving having to watch the bbq's and t.v. sales commercials.
Bravo teddybearcholla My father served in the U.S.M.C SpecialForces 26yrs I served in the mid 70's in the Navy it was during peace time I just have a deep admiration for all those who serve in our Armed Forces so say we all!!!
I have an older brother who served in the USMC. Did two tours in Viet Nam. Me...no. During my time it was lottery. I got missed twice.
Thanks bodadog and all those who post here. Having served 22 years myself, I am sure others like me appreciate these kind words.
