GalCiv III beta pushed to late Summer

GalCiv III beta pushed to late Summer

Copy of Iconian_Cargo_Ship_01I’ve got some good news and some bad news.

The good news is that GalCiv III is moving along on schedule.  The bad news is that we’ve decided to change the feature requirements necessary for GalCiv III to be considered a “beta”.

Originally, we were going to release the beta in May/June and have it not include combat/diplomacy/etc.  However, we’ve determined that we’re better off continuing with the Alpha series until some of those features enter into the game which isn’t scheduled until late Summer.

So the Founder’s Elite Edition will continue to see some big updates in the coming weeks (there’s a pretty huge update scheduled for the end of this month) but the beta version has been pushed.

Yea, in the "old" days we would have called our June milestone a "beta".  But times have changed. A lot of players are less technical and yet more vocal at the same time.

I've actually seen posts where people compare the graphics of the *alpha* of GalCiv III ti GalCiv II: Twilight of the Arnor.

:O how dare they! You shouldn't read the bad stuff on steam when you could be reading everything I write!

DARCA ;)

Probably they haven't zoomed in enough.

As on topic - good, haste make waste. Few will remember game been delayed, most will remember it was bad. Torchlight is good example, some games from "Arts" company are bad examples.

Just like the cost thing.

A group of idiots focus one one thing only as the determining factor.

What $100 for an Alpha that's nuts I hate this and everything it stands for...

Who cares that this gives you the complete game, DLC's and Expansions, not going to pay any attention to that,

Sound about right? lol

Point made.

Might barely be able to survive such bad news! Just joking, it looks all good to me. Remember that summer break, it is probably healthy! :-)

Take your time we can wait.

I am actually surprised the beta is coming that early anyway.  Great job!

I really liked Gal Civ2, think its best 4x space game ever, since unlike many other games, its among a few i still play years later, like civ 4 and 5... its just very awesome games. Sins where not too bad ether, reminded me of homeworld2, a lot... Its a leap of faith, i don't normally ever participate in any alphas or betas, and generally frugal, but i enjoyed GCiv2 so much, and Stardock is not in my mind this huge EA ether, with infinite amount of wealth, that im somehow confident that Gal Civ3 is very likely to be a very awesome 4x game, so awesome in fact, that this early investment will hopefully pay off in more then 1 good game =D I don't really care if it takes a while to develop it or no, only that it really is as awesome a 4x game as you can make.

Please, please, please take all of the time you need.  As a show of "faith", I just bought a Gal Civ III elite founder's pack despite my bad experience with my pre-order of Elemental War of Magic Collector's Edition.

Extending it or not, I still got it, I just could not resist it. I have been waiting for this game for to long time. I do wait for beta to come out, when that dose and we get a good base for Galciv3, we can start some real modding efforts.

This is the right decision to extend alpha and make this a solid game unlike the War of Magic and Elemental mess.   I'm really hoping this game will be as great or even grater that Gal2.  (tactical battles would be a great plus but yes I know they will sadly not be in GAL3)

Besides I have Age of Wonders 3 to play which is about the best Fantasy TBS game out to date so I can wait for the best TBS Space Sci-fi to come out (I'm referring to GS3 by the way :)
