So the Big Guy did $196 Million Worldwide last weekend (about $95 Million here in the U.S.). Go Big Guy!
While perusing the Forbes article on the subject, it was pointed out by the Forbes writer that Godzilla is the last film in the Warner Brothers/Legendary Pictures partnership (with Interstellar still coming up, this isn't quite accurate). Legendary now has a 5 year deal with Universal.
As Above, So Below and Dracula Untold will be among the first films in the Universal/Legendary partnership.
Notably, Interstellar is a 3 way partnership with Warner Brothers, Paramount, and Legendary Pictures.
Legendary has made some notable films (and of course some so so ones). Blame them for Christopher Nolan's Batman role and the 300 craze (in a good way of course).
I always expect good things when I see the Legendary logo in the front of a film. They often seem to do better with epic stuff than a number of other studios (definitely are some other great production companies out there of course). The Watchmen is still one of my fave 'super-hero' films!
Apparently Legendary Pictures is involved in the upcoming Warcraft movie, currently scheduled for release in 2016. Not holding my breath on this one...
Seventh Son (with Jeff Bridges as The Spook) has been playing the role of the can in kick the can. Originally part of the WB/Legendary partnership, the partnership rights have now been sold to Universal, with February 6th 2015 being the current planned release date (it was originally planned for 2/22/2013, with delays ensuing ever since). I'm a Jeff Bridges fan, but this doesn't usually bode well for a film...
But I digress. I'm glad that the Big Guy is doing well this time out!
