H.R. Giger, creator of the art of “Alien” has died.

H. R. Giger, the Swiss surrealist whose work includes the art that gave us “Alien” has passed on at age 74.

He studied Art and Design in Zurich and his work basically explored the relationship between the human body and machines. He termed his style “biomechanical”, and it was eroto-macabre, as well.

The cover art for “Brain Salad Surgery” illustrates that well.

He shall be missed. Rest In Peace, sir.

Sad, such genius, this world is lessened by our loss at his demise.

This news saddens me as Giger was a very special individual who shared some truly inspiring art with the world.

I have used several of his works as wallpapers to accompany various desktop themes throughout the years and enjoyed every one of them, now they're even more special because he is no longer with us to share any more of his inspirational and imaginative art.

RIP, HR Giger, you will be missed but never forgotten. :'(
