^ Oh, thanks for that.  I started a new game and they were there.

While I was there I knocked up a quick colony, which I reused to make a transport later on.

Colony first.

HHere is the transport.  Used the core of the colony, just expanded the engines, got rid of the landing skids up the front and added the transport modules.

After spending several days messing with the shipyard (and NO this was NOT FUN) I finally got a handle on GCIII star ship building 101. Here is my Constitution Class Starship in the Star Trek style. Comments welcome.

These are really impressive.  Nice work on the Constitution and Starfury.

Here is another Constitution Class Star Ship in the Star Trek design. This is my USS Constellation. A bit boxy but I am still experimenting with shipyard.

I think it's better to wait. the Devs will be adding more stuff later and I hope I can remake these ships in medium, large and huge size. Right now the Shipyard is very limited as to size of ships you can make. I have to use a Cargo starter block just to get them to show up larger on game map. When testing is  over I would be happy to share files.

I thought about pushing for a place to trade ship files, possibly the founder's vault.  However, I expect that changes in the Shipyard may put present designs at risk.  Once it settles down, though, I think that would be a fun idea.

Cool starships!

I'm going to be holding off on posting anymore ship pictures. I have some annoyances with hard points on most shipyards parts not being symmetrical and also noticing tilting parts when they are placed on the starter blocks and hard points. See Picture. I've already reported this to the Dev's. I hope it gets fixed soon.

This needs to be fixed.

they said all that had been address so I would say that most or all our ships will not work any ways and the ships you have showed us will have to be rebuilt

I have a couple ship to show not as fancy by far. guess i need to get the pictures before the need update.!   

Just use Steam and take a screen shot. That is what I used. Looking forward to seeing your ships.

I know they are going to revise the shipyard. I can only hope it will be as good as the one from GC2. I know the Dev's told us not to have fun but once you get used to using the shipyard as it is it becomes quite addicting. I am enjoying it.

Why do all my ships look like warships from the centauri from Babylon 5?

You need to concentrate on researching. Unlock and research hull sizes to make bigger ships. Possibilities for making custom ships are endless and only limited by your imagination. Be BOLD and experiment with the shipyard. Try facing parts in different directions to make your ship stand out and look different from others.

I think I finally got a decent looking Star Trek style Sovereign Class Star Ship. It looks pretty good on the game map too. This took three days to get right. Comments welcome.

Here is another version of an ST Galaxy class I did.

Steering away from Star Trek style ships here is is one off the top of my head. Think of US Navy meets BSG meets Babylon 5. Naval Aviation being one of my hobbies I wanted to make a ship that had resemblance to a modern US Navy Aircraft Carrier
