Firefox users: Australis is coming next Tuesday.

Firefox users: Australis is coming next Tuesday.

Mozilla will be rolling out the stable version of the Firefox Australis (Ff 29) next Tuesday.

If you don’t like it, there’s an extension called Classic Theme Restorer (imaginative name, eh?), which can be found here.

If you want a good explanation of differences and some features of Australis, you can find them here.

There’s another add on: The Fox, Only Better  which changes some interface elements but is a lot truer to Australis in appearance.

Anyway, just to keep you Firefox users up to date…by the way, with the new IE exploit, changing to Firefox is certainly a way around it.

Sources for this are in the links above.

actually the same day April 29 the Flash Shockwave plugin was updated to the last version 13

please keep your plugins updated > http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/  (naturally click the link only if you are running Firefox)

I went there and did all the recommended updates, though I'm not at all impressed with Adobe for including McAfee Scanner with the Flash Player download and providing NO opt out... now I have to go uninstall the damned thing.

Anyway, getting back to FF 29 on my notebook, I reinstalled it after experiencing no problems with it on my main machine and those issues I reported earlier seem to have gone/have been resolved.  The web pages I had trouble with appear normally now and do not glitch like before.

So all's well that ends well. |-)

Really?  Don't recall seeing that when I did the update... but that's nothing unusual for me these days.  Whether it's because of vertigo, insomnia or migraines - or all of the above - I do seem to be missing things that aren't so obvious these days.... like fine print, etc.

Anyway, thanks for the tip, HG, at least I'll know to look for it next time.

blame to Adobe ! IMO the delay is a marketing strategy   ;P

Actually? The middle panel in my Austalis opened in about 1 second [and, as always, I unchecked McAfee].

Not sure why yours took so much time, frankell.

any way 1 or 2 seconds it's always a delay and IMO it's intentional,

well the 3 panels page layout recalls me the 3 shell game or the 3 cards monte,  as the Offer middle panel is starting hidden

and com-on the Offer comes already checked ! meanwhile you are focused on the "Install now" button also much bigger than the uncheck space *_*

btw the "plugins check" link >  http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ is also valid in all the Mozilla based browsers (PaleMoon, IcedDragon, SeaMonkey ecc.) ;)

You're right, it wasn't there when the dialog box first appeared, nor was it visible by the time I clicked 'install'... which was at least 2 to 3 seconds to check out what I was getting.  Unfortunately, I didn't wait quite long enough. So yeah, I agree that it is dishonest to say the least... scam fits the bill more accurately, though.

Thing is I got rid of the scanner and I won't be fooled into getting it again

Seems ok so far...

Australis really is more customizable than prior versions of ff.

Yes it is, and now that it is playing well on my lil 11" note book I'm rather happy with the latest version of FF.  I haven't messed with themes or customising it as yet - real life issues keep intervening - but I will get around to it.  I do like to have a desktop theme where all the components are matching or way too similar to notice a difference, and being FF didn't always play well, it looks like this latest version will be just the ticket.

BTW, Doc, a major development has occurred here, will PM you with more shortly. |-)
