How do I counter the scary multiplayer rush?

Seriously, every single time I hop on a MP game I get owned by players rushing me in 10 minutes. Why can't these elitists just play like normal people and enjoy the game? Games should be about FUN, not seeing who can spam the most ships. This kind of diseased attitude is destroying the community. I think we should all band together and boycott ICO to get the MP folks to change their behavior.

There are many ways of enjoying the game. One way is being the most efficient, even if this means spamming early in the game, and it helps against AI as well to have a big fleet when you meet them, and a stronger eco to supply this.

Countering is extremely easy, spam ships as they do, just in different fleet composition (against Ligh Frigates spam long range, against corvettes spam light frigates, and so on).

Or if you really hate this, play against AI, or try to join comp stomp games or friend only games if you have (Steam) friends who play this game.

You know, spam is kinda the most effective way to win a game. A skilled player cant be really rushed; lf spam is countered by lf spam.

P.S. You say that like we need noobs on ico... lol

Strange how you think that hummer, given us "noobs" make up 99% of the playerbase.

All skilled games are actually set up between ~ 40 skilled people, wedont need noobs

they only ruin the 5s

Over the past year or so I've started asking people if they've heard of or play SOASE, and to my surprise, I've come across quite a few.  They rarely play multiplayer though for the same reason:  it's not spamming, or the fear of being raped, its time.  They all play singleplayer (in which a game could last for days) and fear how long a multiplayer game would last.  When they do play multi, it's - of course - usually with friends, although I've been able to talk a few into more public games.

My point is that ICO isn't going to die.  The only way it would is if the game itself died.  What I could see happening though is a turn into private-only games (which has really already started), with the die-hard players like us being the only ones who do the "rush protocol" while everyone else does their own thing.  In other words, Rag, if you don't like how 5s are played, then join another style of game.

Besides, boycotting isn't going to do anything, especially during the summer when classes are out...5s players will still be playing 5s games.  You're just suggesting ridding multiplayer of all noobs, which would make many 5s players very pleased.

Any post made by Sinkillr/Ragnarok is, more often than not, a troll post

To be fair to the OP here, I don't think it is a troll post.
