Is it possible to extract Icon Packages to use the icons outside IconPackager?

I want to use the icons I have applied with IconPackager in my Classic Shell Start Menu. To do that, I need the icons separate from the package so I can apply them one by one on Classic Shell. Is there a way to separate the icons from the package?

Rename the xyz.ip to xyz.zip and use a zip utility to unzip it.

When I do that it says it's an invalid zip file. I'm able to use a zip utility to remove the .icl, but I can't do anything with that file either.

Well...what can I tell you?

Invest in ODNT?

IrfanView also lets you extract and save .ico's from icl archives.  You can get it free here:  http://www.filehippo.com/download_irfanview/

Weboh , I'm not sure exactly sure what it is that you are attempting to do, but if you can send me a private message describing exactly what you have attempted so far and what package it is that you are using to accomplish this, I'm sure that I can instruct you in the proper procedure to make this possible.        -- Ace  --

I half expected to see someone jump in here and say you techinically should not do this because of copyright infringement or something...especially since the icons are packaged in a specific program for a specific purpose.

That said...

Use 7zip to extract the icons. You don't even have to change the file extension. Just right click and select extract files.

7zip is open source, free, and 100% safe. 7ZIP

"Own use" aka not-for-distribution wouldn't be a problem ...;)
