JumpGate

Yea, I am new here... Just one question. Did anyone ever heard/saw bout mod/cheat/anything for galciv2 that implements MoO like Jumpgates into the game??? I know it's lame and all but personally i don't ever play on immense sized galaxies bcz of lack of jumgates. Takes too long to get from one REMOTE colony to other one. Probably i misplaced that topic but i don't know where i should put it.

(MoO like Jumpgate is a building that u place in a colony that allows one turn travel beetwen two jumpgates. Regardless of distance separating them)

EDIT: Oh and when i wrote "cheat" i didnt mean that real cheat when u press button and ships magically appear under your cursor... I want sth that everyone can and will use. Including AI.

Nope, there is no such mod. The game doesn't have the mechanics for jumpgates, and we modders can't add them, because all game mechanics are hardcoded.

Still, there is a dev-post on Steam, indicating, that they might add something like this in GalCiv 3.

Thx for competent reply. Thats a shame. MoO had jumpgates, civ had airlift since like... dont remember... civ2 ?? I cant really imagive time effective conquer strategy in civ5 on huge map with 12 players without using airlift. WSell i suppose i can just click move order for bunch of units and wait those... like 30 turns but its a pain in the ass. cu

The nearest to jumpgates is stacking military starbases.  So a ship near 16 starbases with ship-speed upgrades to +3 gets (16 x 3) = 48 speed bonus.

With a max of 4 starbases per sector, you can pack 16 near one corner of 4 sectors.

I guess you don't like putting engines on your ships.  3 hyperwarp drives on a massive hull gives them a ship speed around 17 with enough space for weapons and defenses (assuming you've researched) to beat most ships.  They can get anywhere in the largest galaxy within a few turns.
