Unable to colonize a planet

i have 4 planets and am trying to colonize a fifth. this planet lies within the influence sphere of another empire. should there be a reason why I cannot colonize this world or it there a new restriction i am unaware of?

There was a planet I was unable to colonize for the longest time, a Low Gravity planet. After researching all of the available tech. I was able to.

Don't know what tech it was, but I imagine it is a tech you're missing. I've colonized planets right next to enemy colonized planets no problem before.

At this level (alpha build 1) I can't imagine not being able to colonize a planet as long as it is listed as habitable. I have had the same problem many times, sometimes I am able to colonize it next turn without completing any research, sometimes it takes a few turns, and now I have one I can't seem to colonize after several turns after trying it with several ships.

I checked with the devs and they see this as a bug. Do you wish to report it to support, or should I?

there was mention off a bug when a colony ship gets destroyed en route it renders the planet uncolonizable that should be fixed with the 0.1.1 patch expected out on Thursday

I think its just basically due to the fact it belongs to the other empire if it's in its influence. I could be wrong though.

I have colonized planets that were in another race's zone of influence. A response I saw from StarDock makes me think they have a handle on what the problem is.
