Colony capital placed on special resource tile

One of the planets that I colonized had the colony capital placed on a special resource tile. This is a waste of a special resource tile as you can't move the colony.

I strongly suggest that you actually can choose where the capital is errected :(

I was going to argue against choosing where to place the capital, but then I remembered adjacency bonuses. Yes, please do let us choose!

Agreed - adjacency bonuses make it much ore important to be able to select the capital positioning

Worrying about a resource tile with the capital building is a moot point as the building can use just about any resource tile IIRC. But the adjacency bonus does make capital positioning important.

I believe choosing a capital tile would make this game far less challenging, maybe it should be an optionbox that you can tick if you would like this feature.

Vanilla game should have the random placement, but should of course not be on a resource tile..

Is there any plan to have the AI recommend what to build where, based on your allocation for the planet?  When I click on a tile often I am unable to build the resource recommended for the tile.  So far the issue primarily seems to be arid land. It is recommended for research yet I cannot build a research laboratory on the site.  It will move the lab to a different site.  This is true on multiple planets.
(How do I post the screen shots?)

My starting planet earth has both the colony and the starport on resource tiles, in this case the starport is on wild grain.  I am supposed to waste time and resources moving the starport to use this tile or can you fix this glitch.  Also who builds a colony on a natural wonder?  How does that help the colony?

I also support being able to choose where the initial colony capital is located. It is part of my list of annoying things in the alpha.

But maybe the AI should first be made to place the colony optimally by itself, after all the AI will need that skill!

There are several bugs that have shown up in the planet features, that we will be fixing.

The Icons are all temporary, and most of the Names and Effects will be changing.

The features showing up in inappropriate places, will be fixed with the new planet surface system, which should be arriving in the next major build.

In the game I am currently playing, my home world has the capital and the spaceport placed on special tiles.  In addition, the icons seem to be incorrect; in fact, the icons are often mismatched.

Anyway, I would hope that the computer would start you off with an optimal configuration rather than simply wasting specials.

Yes, I've had the same on a few planets of mine. Being given the ability to choose where we place the initial colony would be most helpful!

The placement of Planetary features is more or less Random in the Alpha, the entire planetary surface generation system will be getting a overhauled and polished in the not to distant future.

i agree that we should be able to choose where we want to place the colony, and to have it as an option when starting a game. that way if were feeling lazy we wont have to place them. maybe but it in the options screen or ask you when you colonize the planet.
