I seriously can't wait for ZOC on monster lairs.

 

No more longer I will fall victim to cheese from AI like when They settle next to dragon nest. Dragon never attack the AI city despite it being more powerful than six puny peasants.

But when I evict the AI, sorry, the dragon didn't like it and attacks me the new ruler of the city and my army gets wiped instantly.

 

Next one is even more funnier.

 

Huge Dark sorcerer armies patrolling around a city that it can wipe but never attacks cuz it likes the AI for some reason.

But when I take it over and rule it. That army had the misfortune to not have a hero leading them to protect it with magic.. and said Dark Sorcerer goes apeshit and attacks the city immediately and they had like 1 banshee in tow. My whole army of soldiers died. 

 

I returned with several armies to the site of formerly AI city which got razed to the ground instantly after 300+ turns of peace with AI and dark sorcerer. And proceeded to drop a falling star on the said Banshee. Then summoned Curgen's Volcano on site of Dark Sorceror's Lair and left.

And AI's army didn't even have a single mage in it which would've stopped the banshee. Said town's rating was strong but when my army of soldiers entered it and changed the rating from strong to Epic. And somehow this warrants an attack from friendly banshees working together with AIs conspiring against me!

 

Which is other reason why I never attack AI factions until I have more than 3 armies because you never know when there's an evil lair of monsters in waiting until you wander into an AI city only to discover their nest is next to the AI city and they attack you instantly and wipe you because that army isn't structured properly to deal with specific dangerous threats.

 

Which is why I suspect an secret alliance at times like this.

 

But with that ZOC I will no longer be Punked by AI factions cuz monsters only can move 1 tile a turn.

Oh, yes.  There is a super secret pact that everyone except the player belongs to. Even the feral monsters belong.  Perhaps its a way of balancing the game?

What difficulty are you running at?

I run at challenging and never see those sorts of things happen....

Random map, huge, ravaged, wildlands set to many

 

Production pace default, quest frequency plenty

World difficulty Hard

Monster frequency Dense

Pacing Normal

Random event frequency more often

 

Then the last two setting which I recently changed from Moderate to dense is magic strength and Resource frequency.

 

Number of opponents 8.

Kingdom vs Empire balance to Even.

Typical intelligence of opponents set to Expert cuz Anything below is too easy and anything above is blatant cheating Plate armored coming at me at turn 100 with multiplier researched several times already really. Or more worse, Tarth coming at you with their double strike archers with enough of accuracy researched so that they're always striking at 100% when a human player is barely unlocking blacksmith just in time. My kudos to whoever can beat ridiculous difficulty. I'm just pissed cuz I got an awesome looking start that now cannot be played.
