Lost research from surve with no research underway

Played the game a bit, one whole match actually and came up with following situation:

My research had just finished, but I had not yet picked new one. However, my survey ships popped two research related events which were thus wasted.

Could be working as intended, make sure you always have research going on when surveying, but also bit annoying.

Yeah, I had the same thing. If there was a clear popup for "research completed" which forces you to pick a new one before closing, this problem wouldn't be there.

It would be great to be able to queue up 2 or more research projects, like with build lists so that once one project completes you start the next, this would help that situation a lot and also help alleviate the micromanagement of the research queue.

Yeah I like the queue idea also and possibly with that possibility for notification at start of turn like research project completed where you can quickly access to your research.

I like the research queue idea too. It will be interesting to see how it could tie into the tech tree. I like the idea that you could select a goal on the tech tree and the build queue would populate accordingly.

Count me in on this idea. Even with GC2 the carry over of research points could cause two or more techs to be researched in one turn, but only on the same path (which is ok but not optimum). A queue would allow us to specify the specific order of completion we want even if more than one was completed in a turn. Of course, a default of continuing down the current path could be used if the queue becomes exhausted.
