Compared to what I have seen this is the most advanced alpha.
The issues reported seem to be few compared to what it could have been.

Look at the vault and see devs comments about the quality before alpha. One could wonder what they call the state before alpha . pre-alpha ?
Considering its potential, the alpha is a far cry from a good game. But I've taken part in my share of alpha builds, and this one is least broken of them.
Take that for what you will.
I was honestly surprised at how much substance it has already.

This game is amazing, never seen so good an alpha, sure you dint send us the beta by mistake 
Yes, I'm very impressed with this alpha, very slick UI. Not a lot to do yet in game, but we were forewarned. Can sense a ton of potential, and very reminiscent of its predecessors in feel. Great work so far.
I am impressed I do look forward to more options unlocking in the game as they get released. other than a few in game crashes I have had no problems.

Actually, I have seen them talk about "internal alpha" and "external alpha".
I thought it would be worse. A years well spent! The planet UI was probably the worst part, but that being remade.
it wasn't that long ago I had my first turn at galciv2 so this is awesome!
