Fate,

Ouch guy. I think you have at least another 8 hours from what the Stardock guys said. It is only midnight in Michigan (UTC - 4). I often thought it was neat to be on the early time zones of the day, but I guess this is one of the draw backs.

What time did they say they were releasing it?

I think you know the answer to that as well as I do. That's why I had the little wink there.

They also said if nothing goes wrong. (Just a small sheet anchor, just in case.)

I think that's all any of us know. Apparently they had a disclaimer too as one of the other posters mentioned. So if worse comes to worse it may not even be today. I wouldn't sweet it though, I'll be getting some sleep if it's not out in a few hours personally.

That's why I wanted an ETA that is more accurate.

I understand the anticipation but you can either stay up refreshing your browser and watching these forums like a hawk or you can get some sleep, do something else and maybe miss the first hour or two of release. There will be plenty of time to test and we've waited this long, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I've been waiting for six years.

But the last few hours are the worst :C

Ha, I know I know. I've been there before but I've also stayed up bored out of my mind refreshing browsers to have games be released much later than I've anticipated or even worse delayed. I like to think I'm a little wiser now but I still find myself on these forums even if it's only 4 pm here :)

I am wondering how long do we have to be online, before we don't have to be online with steam?

DARCA, when you write something, say it out loud before you post it to see if it makes sense.

Rephrase the question.

If you are asking how long it will take to down load the first Alpha build, try this formula:

total code size <they said 1.8G> * 8 <convert from bytes to bits> / (your suppliers rated speed <if not reduced upstream> * 90% <delivery overhead>) / 60 <convert seconds to minutes>   --- Of course, your results may vary.

Since this is a alpha and not a real game yet, do we always have to be online with steam when we play. I ask because I haven't used steam before. (phrasing that sentence was a little fun :) )

Most games on Steam can run in 'offline mode' just fine.

I hope not I may not have the internet after may. Last I heard this game will not require you to be online oou can nly to have steam, and be online to download it after that you can play the game normally. To take advantage of its more advanced Ai features after it comes out you might want to be online, or play multiplayer when the game actually comes out.

Yeah, I've resigned myself to accepting that I won't get this until late at night tonight but more likely play it until the 28th. Most of the time being in the future is great, but release days are an exception. =)
