Yup, following those basic rules will likely prevent an arse whoopin' from the cops... unless those cops are mad mofo's who just enjoy the sport of whoopin' people arses. I've encountered cops like it in the past, smart mouthed cops who hide behind the badge/uniform and go to extremes to pay out on you just because they can... and get away with it.
As recently as 2 years ago I had a cop threaten me with violence because I stood between him and my son's partner when it appeared he was going to manhandle her over a Family Court issue. I expressed my disgust by saying how brave he was in intimidated a scared mother and threatening a 'near' 60 year old with violence. Fortunately his partner calmed him and apologised for his behaviour, but yeah, it could have turned ugly.
