Nokia X - Android, Windows Phone...What?

Nokia has officially announced the Nokia X smartphones, which will run some type of version of Android and will also use services from Microsoft instead of Google.

"As the previous leaked screenshots have shown, the UI for the Nokia X devices will be similar in looks to Microsoft's Modern user interface used for Windows Phone and Windows 8. While the Nokia X and the Nokia X + will both have 4-inch displays, the Nokia XL will have a larger 5-inch screen. The Nokia X + will have some extra memory and storage via a microSD card compared to the Nokia X smartphone."

I've owned Nokia phones with Windows 8 on them. I'm not a fan. I'll stick to my LG Android phone. :)

I doubt these will be around for long.  If I wanted a generic OS with malware issues I'd just get a regular Google phone. ;)

I think you're right about that...not seeing exactly why they did that unless it's just to cash in on the MS Skype and OneDrive public.

From what I understand it' does not connect to the Google Play Store, so it would likely not win over too many Android users.  From the few snippets I've read, this phone is neither Windows Phone or Android, but rather "an ugly hybrid of both", as one commenter put it, and is unlikely to please Windows Phone users in its current state.  While the tiled interface is intended to mimic the Lumia's UI, it seems somewhat lacking compared to what I see on my Lumia 820.

That says it in a nutshell for me.... not to mention the millions of other W8 Phone Users.  If only my landline/ISP provider created WP8 apps to allow remote access to my services and Foxtel accounts, I'd have all I need in the one appliance.  As it is they only provide these apps for iPhone and selected Samsung units... so it's either wait until the cows come home - an inquiry revealed there are no plans to make W8 Phone apps to remotely access Telstra accounts -or go with a Samsung Galaxy Note II or III to fill the void.... because an iPhone is absolutely out of the question.

That, and to see if they can lure over a few Android users, but frankly, I see the entire experiment falling flat on its arse... because it will appeal to neither side, WP8 or android fans... and iPhone users will just laugh.

I have never had an issue with malware on my Android phone if that's what you are talking about.
