$10 Founder's Discount on Galactic Civilizations III expires soon

The limited availability of the regular Founder's Edition is coming to a close as we near the launch of the Galactic Civilizations III Founder's Alpha, which will go out exclusively to Elite Founders who purchased the $99 edition.

The last day to purchase the $39.99 Founder's Edition is March 2, 2014.

The $99 Elite Founder’s Edition, which includes all expansions and DLC we ever produce for Galactic Civilizations III and exclusive Alpha access, will continue to be available.

Owners of the regular Founder’s Edition can upgrade to the Elite Founder’s Edition for $60.

Thanks for your support!

Is this the member of a new civilization? Or just concept art.

The limited availability

Why? It's digital only, right?

It's a discount, and the discounted version is going away. After that it'll be $10 more.

So the terminology is accurate.

That's the "new" look of the Krynn. At least according to the name of that picture in the Founder's Vault.

I can see the resemblance pretty easily.

How? It's completely different than how Ynrhed Eidden looked in GalCiv 2. Probably a representative of a different Krynn member-race.

They both have the same basic head structure: a ridged, roughly cone-like skull pointing backwards, with a pair of structures jutting out from the sides that have multiple eyes set into them. It's not the same species, but there's clearly a "family resemblance". Which makes sense, since they all evolved on the same planet and humans and Neanderthals have been used as an analogue before.

What's more interesting to me is that it's clearly showing a face, despite that thing about how they always wear encounter suits when dealing with other races. Ynrhed Eidden could conceivably have been a suit, but this guy isn't.

This is all kind of off-topic, though. It might be better to save this thread for discussions about the discount and take pouring over every detail of an image to somewhere else.

The Krynn in Galactic Civilizations 2 was wearing a "Confrontation suit", remember? I wouldn't be surprise if the 'new' Krynn is actually just Ynrhed Eidden without his mask.

Thanks for the explanation, I didn't notice that before. Likely because I usually don't play with (or against) the Krynn. I don't like zealots. Religious or otherwise.

Yay... cant wait for Alpha.

I've quite a few questions (hopefully not dumb ones)

will the upgrade from the $40 discounted preorder to the founder elite be available after the $40 discount goes away..?

will founder elite continue to be available after the alpha begins just without that benefit?

fpr those whom preorder will stardock email steam keys or what..? (I don't yet have a valve account; the only reason I'm associating myself with steam is for this game)

Is there any news on when the Alpha is expected to be available? I've been away from these forums for quite a while, and the last estimate I saw was February.

Late March.

27th March, to be precise.

Yes, GC3 will only be distributed with Steam keys regardless if it's the alpha or full release.

I just pre-ordered today and looked at the goodies in the vault. If you have not pre-ordered. Do it now!

Well, it expired and there is no $49.99 version.  Just Founder's Elite at $99.

Thats the only current version since it gives alpha access. When the game is near release, a normal version will appear.

I mean, selling it now when you can't play it until 2015 would be silly. :)

Tridus, are you misinterpreting or confusing something you read somewhere? I have yet to see anything that could explain the disappearance of the basic Founders offer (the $49.99 version) other than someone goofed. If you have a link to something said by a legitimate StarDock representative, please post a link.
